Lorandi claims first Formula 3 win with Volkswagen in Pau
The third race in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship produced a surprise winner: Alessio Lorandi (I) from the Volkswagen customer team Carlin. The 18-year-old youngster won the third race in Pau (F) from pole position. The 2.76-kilometre long race track in southwestern France proved to be challenging for the whole weekend.
Best result of the season for Swedish rallycross team
Both Volkswagen Polo RX Supercars made it to the final of the third race in the FIA World Rallycross Championship in Mettet (B). Anton Marklund (S) completed the race in fourth place in his 600 HP Volkswagen Polo RX Supercar, just missing out on a podium finish. His team-mate Johan Kristoffersson (S) finished the final in sixth place.
Volkswagen drivers Eriksson and Zhou start season with podium finishes
The teenagers Joel Eriksson (S) and Guanyu Zhou (CN) have got Volkswagen off to a successful start in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship with two podium finishes. 16-year-old Zhou put in a fantastic performance in a rainy second race at the season opener on the Circuit Paul Ricard in Le Castellet, France, finishing in third place.
