Reigning British GT3 Teams’ champions TF Sport will return to British GT’s GT4 class next season after confirming Alex Toth-Jones will drive a new-for-2019 Aston Martin Vantage.

The announcement sees TF Sport extend its British GT commitment to the same class as where it all began back in 2014 when Devon Modell and Andrew Jarman finished runners-up at the end of the team’s debut season. It also comes less than two weeks after Tom Ferrier’s outfit renewed its commitment to the senior class with the new-shape Vantage GT3.

Ginetta GT5 Challenge graduate Toth-Jones, who finished fifth in 2018, heads up a Silver Cup crew featuring an as-yet unannounced co-driver. Together they will pilot the four-litre turbocharged V8 Vantage, which makes its customer debut in 2019.

“It’s really exciting to start our GT4 journey in the new-generation Aston Martin GT4 and it’s great to have a driver like Alex coming onboard,” said Ferrier. “We’re currently looking for a young and competitive team-mate to race with him and put together a title challenge for the 2019 season.”

For Toth-Jones, the decision to join TF Sport was a relatively easy one after spending time reviewing his options over the summer.

“The British GT Championship is where I and my sponsors want to be next year,” he explained. “From Silverstone onwards we were speaking with teams and looking at who would be best to run with. After careful consideration over the summer and weighing up all options with some of the top teams in British GT, we have made the decision to go with the best overall package and stepping stone to the Le Mans dream with TF Sport.

“I was always interested in racing the new Aston Martin GT4 car and so when the opportunity arose TF made the cut as they are the biggest AMR customer team in the world.

“I’m really excited just to see the new car for 2019, let alone drive it! It will be a close championship but I am confident that the new Aston Martin will be super-competitive.”

Toth-Jones will begin testing the new Vantage once it’s delivered to TF Sport in January.
