The most important sports car race of the year is fast approaching, and two drivers from the ADAC GT Masters will also be among the field. Stefan Mücke (35, Berlin), who drives a Mercedes-AMG GT3 prepared by BWT Mücke Motorsport in the Super Sports Car League, will line up in the GTE Pro class in the endurance classic as a works driver for last year’s winners, Ford. This will be his eleventh Le Mans start. Mücke: “We obviously want to win, that is always our aim, but as double points towards the endurance world championship will be awarded at Le Mans, finishing will be the top prority. It’s difficult to make any predictions for this race, because anything can happen, even on the last lap – as we saw last year with Toyota.”

Klaus Bachler (25, A, Schütz Motorsport) will stick with Porsche at Le Mans. The Austrian will drive a 911 RSR for Proton Competition in the GTE-Am class. Bachler: “Following on from 2014 and 2015, this will be my third start in the 24-hour race, and I’m really looking forward to it. Le Mans is a highlight on every racing driver’s calendar. I think we have a good chance of taking the lead in our class. The most important thing in Le Mans is to steer clear of problems as much as possible, always! Things could get tough for us if that doesn’t work out.”

Marvin Dienst will also be one of Bachler’s team-mates at Proton. The 20-year-old lined up in the ADAC GT Masters in 2016 and won the ADAC Formula 4 in 2015. Many other former drivers from the Super Sports Car League will be competing in Le Mans this year, including ADAC GT Masters race winner Nick Tandy (32, GB), who has a chance of a second overall victory in the Porsche 919 hybrid, Jeroen Bleekemolen (35, NL), Kévin Estre (28, F), Oliver Gavin (44, GB), Frédéric Makowiecki (36, F), Roman Rusinov (35, RUS) and Nicki Thiim (28, DK).
