Linus Lundqvist kicked off the second half of the F4 British Championship with a pair of podium finishes at Snetterton this weekend.

The Swedish Double R Racing rookie powered to third place in both the first and third race of the meeting, completing his score with a P5 result in the reverse-grid Race 2.

Lundqvist also set the fastest lap of the final race, and remains third in the overall drivers’ championship with 17 out of the season’s 30 races completed.

It’s been a decent weekend, neither more nor less, says Linus Lundqvist“My target at this stage of the season is to win as many races as possible, but I think a pair of podiums still marks a good way to kick off the second half of the year.”

Lundqvist’s Snetterton weekend was hampered to some degree by a number of technical glitches, with a recurring gearbox issue complicating matters in two of the three races.

“We probably had a few issues too many to really achieve our full potential this weekend,” Lundqvist concludes. “It was nothing major, but the gearbox wouldn’t work properly in either of the last two races, which was a shame. I did manage to adapt my driving to compensate for most of it, and we did set the fastest lap in Race 3, so I think we could have challenged for victory on a faultless day. Three top five finishes mean a lot of good points for the championship, though, so I’m reasonably pleased.”

The next round of the F4 British Championship takes place at the undulating Knockhill circuit in Scotland on 12-13 August.
