STELLAR BLANCPAIN GT SERIES ENTRY LIST CONFIRMED FOR SILVERSTONE WITH 52 CARS PRIMED FOR ENDURANCE CUP CONTEST
Silverstone will play host to a 52-car field of GT3 machinery next weekend when the Blancpain GT Series makes its annual trip to the historic venue for a three-hour Endurance Cup contest.
“Audi Sport customer racing today is experiencing the largest model offensive in its history,” says Michael-Julius Renz, Managing Director of Audi Sport GmbH. “In 2018 we’re aiming for our fifth overall victory in the world’s biggest endurance race, the 24 Hours of Nürburgring. Emil Frey Jaguar Racing is highly motivated following the great start to the season by winning the Silver Cup and achieving fifth overall in Monza and is now taking the momentum to the second race of the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup at Silverstone. The No. 25 BMW M8 GTE of Connor De Phillippi and Alexander Sims raced to a well-deserved second place finish in today’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Acura Sports Car Challenge at Mid-Ohio, taking the checkered flag 1.673 seconds behind the race winning No. 912 Porsche. The result was the team’s second runner-up finish of the season and the 70th podium finish since 2009. After starting from the pole, John Edwards and Jesse Krohn had an unfortunate race to finish seventh in the No. 24 M8 GTE.
Despite strong strategies and judicious driving by all four drivers, the podium remained just out of reach for Ford Chip Ganassi Racing at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, the final stop for the team before the Le Mans 24.
