PAUL MILLER RACING KEEPS CHAMPIONSHIP FOCUS HEADING INTO VIRGINIA

The 2018 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship has been a whirlwind season for Paul Miller Racing, and the battle for the GTD class title resumes this weekend at VIRginia International Raceway. With an impressive seven podiums in eight races, the No. 48 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 of Bryan Sellers and Madison Snow is leading the championship by 18 points with three races remaining. This weekend’s sprint race will feature the IMSA GT classes only, where 10 GTD and eight GTLM entries will compete for the next batch of valuable championship points.

BMW TEAM RLL READY FOR VIR AFTER NEAR MISS AT ROAD AMERICA

While the second half of the 2018 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship can be exhausting with a race seemingly every other weekend, BMW Team RLL is looking forward to getting back to it at the Aug. 19 Michelin GT Challenge at VIR following a near miss of the podium’s top spot at Road America. Leading for almost the entire last hour of the race, the No. 25 M8 GTE of Connor De Phillippi was stalled by a fuel system issue within minutes of the checkered flag.

PORSCHE GT TEAM STRIVES FOR OUTRIGHT VICTORY IN VIRGINIA

The Porsche GT Team fields two 911 RSR at round nine of the IMSA SportsCar Championship season on the Virginia International Raceway on 19 August. The 510-hp racer from Weissach, which has already notched up victories at the 12 Hours of Sebring and the Mid-Ohio race so far this season, tackles the infamously cutthroat GTLM class against strong opposition from BMW, Chevrolet and Ford. In the GTD class, Porsche’s customer team Wright Motorsports campaigns the 911 GT3 R, which recently celebrated its first win this year in the USA at Road America. The prototypes will be absent at the venerable 5.263-kilometre racetrack close to Alton in the US state of Virginia for the second time this season. This means that overall victory will go to a GT car.

DOUBLE LE MANS WINNER PORSCHE TRAVELS TO SILVERSTONE

Silverstone hosts round three of the FIA World Sports Car Championship WEC on 19 August. After scoring a double victory at Le Mans, the Porsche GT Team travels to England leading the drivers’ and manufacturers’ classifications in the GTE-Pro class. A six-strong fleet of 510 hp Porsche 911 RSR will tackle the race on the 5.901-kilometre tradition-steeped circuit in the British Midlands: two in the GTE-Pro class and four in the GTE-Am class.
