After following up its win at Lime Rock with another run to the podium at Road America, TeamTGM will look to maintain the championship-leading momentum this weekend in the Biscuitville Grand Prix at Virginia International Raceway (VIR). The event marks Round 8 of the 10-race IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge season.

After moving to the championship lead following a run to third place at Road America, the No. 46 Jayne Koskinas / Ted Giovanis (JKTG) Foundation / Campy Boggy Creek Mercedes-AMG GT4 of Hugh Plumb and Owen Trinkler hold a one-point advantage (191-190) as they look to make another strong run this Saturday.

With three career wins at VIR on their resumes, Plumb and Trinkler will look to merge their extensive knowledge of the 3.27-mile long course at VIR to earn a fourth combined win this weekend.

Entering the race weekend as the defending ST class race winner at VIR, Trinkler is focused on putting forth the same consistent performance that the team has shown throughout the season.

“I love going to VIR and obviously being a race winner there last year combined with the
momentum that we have gained at the last two events, I am excited to get back there,” said Trinkler. “I think this car will do really well at VIR especially in the uphill esses and in the downhill rollercoaster. The handling of the car has been great in areas like that so I think we will have a strong weekend ahead of us. I don’t really look at the championship points too much, I just try to stay focused and to keep doing what we are doing.”

With VIR race wins in both 2008 and 2015, Plumb knows what it’s like to be in the front of the field and he is eager to maintain the championship momentum once again this weekend.

“Coming in to VIR with the points lead is a reflection of what Ted Giovanis has built with this TGM team,” said Plumb. “This team is all effort, all the time, so it feels really good to have the success that we’ve had this year with the win and strong run in the championship so far. But we are really focused on getting all the way there to the championship. It has been awesome co-driving with Owen (Trinkler), he’s done an awesome job and that is so critical to our success. With just three races left, we’ve just got to continue to do what we’ve done so far this year—executing and doing everything with no mistakes.”

The sister TeamTGM entry of Guy Cosmo and Ted Giovanis (No. 4 JKTG Foundation / Camp Boggy Creek Mercedes-AMG GT4) are coming off of another progressive run at Road America after advancing 10 positions from start to finish.

Cosmo, who has had several years of experience competing at VIR, is looking forward to heading back to a true driver’s track.

“VIR is a track I absolutely love,” said Cosmo. “It offers so much variety to a driver and is a place you must really attack yet finesse at the same time. I’m really looking forward to getting on track. GT racing is always extremely scrappy at VIR with all the available passing zones so we are planning for 2 hours of flat-out racing. I can’t wait.”

Serving as both driver and team owner, Giovanis is keen to get back behind the wheel of his No. 4 Mercedes while also focusing on retaining the championship lead with the team’s sister No. 46 car.

“At VIR, I would like to get into a groove early in the race,” said Giovanis. “If we can all put that together, I believe a podium for the 4 car is possible. For the team we need to keep up our momentum and keep doing what we are doing. No glitches. Hugh (Plumb) and Owen (Trinkler) will be fast at VIR. We need a good set up, a clean race, good pit stops, and a good pace. If we do that, the 46 car will retain the points lead.”
