GRT TAKES ON TRIPLE CHALLENGE IN GT3 RACING

All good things come in threes. For the Grasser Racing Team, this old adage is the order of the day as the Lamborghini Squadra Corse supported team from Austria are adding a third top-class GT3 series to their high-caliber program for the 2023 season. In addition to their commitments in the DTM and the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup, GRT will also enter the new Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 in the ADAC GT Masters. The talented Chilean youngster Benjamin Hites and Lamborghini factory driver Marco Mapelli from Italy will get behind the wheel of the team’s number 63 entry.

GRT AND CLEMENS SCHMID TEAM UP IN THE DTM FOR 2023

The 2023 DTM season is slowly casting its shadow for GRT after an intensive preparation phase. In addition to their involvement in the GT World Challenge Europe, the Lamborghini team from Austria is once again taking on the battle in the most prestigious of all GT3 series. After the successful debut season in 2022, the outfit supported by Lamborghini Squadra Corse is fielding two new Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 this year. With Clemens Schmid in the number 63 car, team boss Gottfried Grasser’s squad is relying on continuity. An announcement of the final line-up including the driver of the #19 sister car will be made soon.

ABT SPORTSLINE PUTS FAITH IN TWO STRONG YOUNG DRIVERS IN THE DTM

ABT Sportsline lines up with two impressive young drivers in the 2023 DTM season. Kelvin van der Linde (26) from South Africa and Switzerland’s Ricardo Feller (22) start in the two Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II for the successful team from the Allgäu region of Germany. The two youngsters were team-mates at ABT Sportsline last season and form one of the youngest duos in the 2023 DTM. The opening weekend of the much-anticipated season takes place from 26th to 28th May at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben.

MERCEDES-AMG TO ENTER NEW DTM SEASON WITH A STRONG TEAM AND DRIVER LINE-UP

Mercedes-AMG has finalised its team and driver line-up for the 2023 DTM season. The performance and sports car brand from Affalterbach will be competing for victories and title wins in the prestigious sprint race series with a total of six Mercedes-AMG GT3s. Three Customer Racing Teams, all with extended works support, will be running the cars. Next to Haupt Racing Team (HRT) and WINWARD Racing, two outfits with previous experience in the series, Landgraf Motorsport will have its DTM premiere with Mercedes-AMG. The team from Bad Kreuznach is coming over from ADAC GT Masters in which it claimed the drivers’ championship and runner-up spot in the teams’ standings in the past season.

SSR PERFORMANCE LINES UP IN THE DTM WITH LAMBORGHINI

The SSR Performance motorsport team will be gunning for success in the DTM alongside Italian super sports car manufacturer Lamborghini in the future. Team owner Stefan Schlund has signed a partnership agreement with the luxury brand. The Munich-based team will contest its second season in the DTM in 2023. After working with Porsche, Schlund is now hungry to bring more trophies to the company headquarters with Lamborghini. The site in the Freimann area of Munich, which was built in 2020, is currently home to the ADAC GT Masters champion and runner-up trophies, as well as the DTM winner’s champagne belonging to Dennis Olsen, who won last year’s race at Spa-Francorchamps for SSR Performance.

MERCEDES-AMG CELEBRATES MOST SUCCESSFUL CUSTOMER RACING SEASON TO DATE

In the 2022 season, Mercedes-AMG has continued its success story in customer racing with race and title wins in the world’s most significant GT series. The teams with GT3 and GT4 cars from Affalterbach raced on all six continents and racked up 63 teams’ and drivers’ titles as well as four manufacturers’ titles for AMG in the process. That is a new record in the twelve-year history of the Customer Racing programme. Highlights are three titles in the Intercontinental GT Challenge (IGTC), the overall win in the TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa, the ADAC GT Masters championship win and the title in the Fanatec GT World Challenge Powered by AWS manufacturers’ standings. Worldwide, the Customer Racing Teams competed in over 470 races and celebrated 80 race and 225 class wins while doing so. In total, over 600 podium results could be secured. The international competitiveness of the Customer Racing cars and the reliable worldwide support convinced both existing and new customers. As a result, over 240 Mercedes-AMG GT3s and over 180 Mercedes-AMG GT4 were delivered by this time. In the 2023 season, the new Mercedes-AMG GT2 further extends the portfolio.

BMW M MOTORSPORT PRESENTS WORKS DRIVERS AND RACE PROGRAMME FOR THE 2023 SEASON

The squad of works drivers at BMW M Motorsport for the 2023 season includes more prominent newcomers. Belgians Dries Vanthoor and Charles Weerts receive works driver contracts and join the BMW M Motorsport family. They will compete with BMW M Team WRT in the coming season, among other outings. The initial race programmes for the BMW M Motorsport teams and works drivers have also been confirmed. They include appearances in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with the new BMW M Hybrid V8, as well as starts with the BMW M4 GT3 in GT World Challenge Europe, the Intercontinental GT Challenge and the Nürburgring 24 Hours (GER). More race programmes – including the DTM that is undergoing a major transformation at the moment – are being planned and will be announced at a later date.

PORSCHE CUSTOMER TEAMS MAKE THEIR MARK IN THE DTM

The Porsche customer teams have made an impression at the debut DTM season. At the same time, it was also the debut of the Porsche brand in the DTM. The 911 GT3 R fielded by SSR Performance and the Team 75 Bernhard achieved three victories in the storied German racing series. Works driver Thomas Preining turned heads recently with a strong result and spectacular overtaking manoeuvres. The Austrian concluded the 2022 DTM season fifth in the drivers’ championship. For the first time in DTM history, Dennis Olsen scored pole position for Porsche.

GRAND DTM SEASON FINALE FOR BMW M MOTORSPORT AT HOCHENHEIM

This weekend (7th to 9th October), the DTM season 2022 will draw to a close with the traditional finale at the Hockenheimring (GER). BMW M works driver Sheldon van der Linde (RSA) and the BMW M Motorsport Team Schubert Motorsport are battling for the title in the DTM drivers’ and team championships. They are heading to the finale at the top of the standings in both competitions. The CO2-reducing RoL E20 fuel from BMW M Motorsport Partner Shell will be used for the first time in the BMW M2 Cup. In the DTM Classic Cup, BMW M works driver Bruno Spengler (CAN) will again be competing in a historic BMW race car for the Schnitzer Classic team.

RENE RAST TO DRIVE FOR BMW M MOTORSPORT IN 2023

A big name is set to join the squad of drivers at BMW M Motorsport in 2023: René Rast (GER) will be in action at the wheel of BMW M racing cars from next season. A host of opportunities to go racing await the three-time DTM champion and winner of the 24-hour races at Spa-Francorchamps (BEL) and the Nürburgring (GER). Details of which cars, series and individual events Rast will race in will be announced together with the programmes of all other BMW M works drivers.

TWO DTM WINS FOR SHELDON VAN DER LINDE AT THE LAUSITZRING

25 kilograms of success ballast weren’t able to stop him either: after his success on Saturday, Schubert BMW driver Sheldon van der Linde also charged to DTM victory at Lausitzring Turn 1 powered by Autohero on Sunday as well. With the Schubert Motorsport BMW M4, the South African claimed pole position in the morning and scored 25 points with another commanding performance. Second place in the race on Sunday went to Maro Engel (GER) with the GruppeM Mercedes-AMG, who also secured the additional point for the Autohero Fastest Lap Award. Three-time DTM champion René Rast (GER) came third, scoring his first podium finish with the ABT Audi R8 since his return to DTM. Classified fourth, Philipp Eng (AUT) completed the good day for Schubert.

AUDI SPORT RELIES ON THREE CUSTOMER TEAMS IN DTM TITLE FIGHT

The many fans of the DTM can look forward to a season of records: With 29 race cars – including six Audi R8 LMS from three teams – and drivers from 15 nations, the grid is larger than ever before since the series was relaunched in 2000. René Rast, three-time champion with Audi, returns to the professional racing series after a one-year break. The DTM Trophy as another league in which five Audi R8 LMS GT4 cars from two customer teams will participate completes the popular racing platform. For the season opener from April 29 to May 1, the DTM teams will travel to Portimão for the first time. The circuit on the Mediterranean coast is the first of eight rounds in five European countries. In Portugal, the TCR Europe is also part of the program with three Audi RS 3 LMS gen II cars, among others.

BMW M MOTORSPORT HEAD INTO THE 2022 DTM SEASON WITH STRONG PARTNERS

We have known for a number of weeks that Walkenhorst Motorsport and Schubert Motorsport will each run two BMW M4 GT3s in the 2022 DTM. It is now time to unveil the designs of the four cars. Each one bears the colours and logos of long-term BMW M Motorsport partners who have remained true to the DTM in its GT3 era and play a valuable role in supporting the BMW M Motorsport teams and drivers in this prestigious series.

LAURENS VANTHOOR AND DENNIS OLSEN TO RACE FOR PORSCHE TEAM SSR PERFORMANCE IN THE 2022 DTM

SSR Performance already having announced its participation in the 2022 DTM with a pair of Porsche 911 GT3 Rs back in December, the team now also confirms its driver line-up. Porsche works driver Laurens Vanthoor (BEL) with starting number #92 and Porsche contracted driver Dennis Olsen (NOR) are racing for the team from Munich. Both for the drivers and the team, the upcoming season will be the first full one in DTM, SSR Performance already having had a guest participation at Nürburgring in 2021. The new season gets underway at Portimão (POR) from 29 April until 1 May and includes 16 races. In the German-speaking countries, the races, all of them starting at 1.30pm CET/CEST, will be broadcast on ProSieben for the first time.

DAVID SCHUMACHER TO COMPETE FOR MERCEDES-AMG TEAM WINWARD IN THE DTM

David Schumacher will be racing in the 2022 DTM for the very first time. The 20-year-old will be competing for german-texan team Mercedes-AMG team WINWARD, based in Altendiez near Limburg. The team is expanding its involvement in DTM for the new season and will be running a total of three Mercedes-AMGs. The son of ex-Formula 1 driver Ralf Schumacher, who raced a Mercedes in DTM himself from 2008 till 2012, will become teammate to reigning DTM champion Maximilian Götz and seven-time DTM race winner Lucas Auer from Austria. David Schumacher is making the transition from single-seater racing to DTM.

TEAM ROSBERG AIMS AT THE DTM TITLE AND OPTS FOR ANOTHER YEAR WITH NICO MULLER, DEV GORE AND AUDI

With two-time runner-up Nico Müller and the further developed Audi R8 LMS evo II, Team Rosberg intends to be one of the title contenders in the 2022 DTM. The team, founded by ex-Formula 1 world champion Keke Rosberg, opts for continuity as the driver line-up remains unchanged. Alongside Swiss Nico Müller, American Dev Gore will again be racing the second Audi. The new season gets underway at the beginning of April with the official DTM test days at Hockenheim, the home track of the team based in Neustadt an der Weinstraße. The first races will be held from 29 April until 1 May at Portimão in Portugal.
