With two-time runner-up Nico Müller and the further developed Audi R8 LMS evo II, Team Rosberg intends to be one of the title contenders in the 2022 DTM. The team, founded by ex-Formula 1 world champion Keke Rosberg, opts for continuity as the driver line-up remains unchanged. Alongside Swiss Nico Müller, American Dev Gore will again be racing the second Audi. The new season gets underway at the beginning of April with the official DTM test days at Hockenheim, the home track of the team based in Neustadt an der Weinstraße. The first races will be held from 29 April until 1 May at Portimão in Portugal.

“Three drivers’ titles and two teams’ championships between 2017 and 2020 are an impressive record. Not just because of these achievements, Team Rosberg is one of the important consistent factors in DTM,” Frederic Elsner, director event & operations of the DTM organisation ITR is convinced. “Nico Müller is a driver who is absolutely capable of winning and is one of the crowd favourites, and so is his team. With Dev Gore, we have a driver from the US, underlining the international status of DTM.”

In the 2017 and 2020 seasons, the team, founded in 1995, sealed the teams’ championship. Driving the Rosberg Audi, René Rast became DTM champion in 2017, 2019 and 2020. Audi works driver Nico Müller started his DTM career with Rosberg in 2014 and 2015. In 2021, the 29-year-old from Bern returned to the team and ended up in the top ten of the DTM standings.

“For us, continuity is important, so therefore we are happy that Nico Müller and Dev Gore remain part of Team Rosberg. Our aim is to be in contention for the title. In the high-class field in DTM, we want to show that we can do better than last year,” team principal Kimmo Liimatainen explains. “With Nico, we have an experienced and really fast driver. Dev was able to improve in his maiden DTM season and we want to continue this trend together with him.”

In 136 DTM races to date, Nico Müller has scored ten victories and became runner-up in 2019 and 2020. “Team Rosberg and I have started a new chapter in 2021 and that isn’t finished yet. Everyone is eager and motivated, which was clear to notice during the winter,” Müller says. “DTM is a hard-fought series with strong drivers in which we want to compete for podium results and wins on a regular basis and want to be in contention for the title, too.”

24-year-old Dev Gore from Oklahoma City is looking forward to his second year in DTM: “I am feeling very well at Team Rosberg, the team has supported me a great deal in my DTM rookie season. Surely, the second season will be a bit easier as I know the team, the car, the tracks and also the entire DTM environment. It is my goal to get closer to the front.”
