MAZDA TEAM JOEST TARGETS CANADIAN PODIUM

The drivers of the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship have a short turnaround from racing at one of North America’s most daunting circuits to another. One week after racing at Watkins Glen International, the Mazda Team Joest drivers will compete this weekend at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park outside of Toronto.

TWO RACES IN SEVEN DAYS: THE GREATEST LOGISTICAL CHALLENGE OF THE SEASON FOR BMW TEAM RLL

There are just five days between the six-hour race at Watkins Glen (USA) and the start of the race weekend at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park near Bowmanville (CAN). Although the two IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship circuits are only around 300 miles apart, this is one of the most challenging weeks for the BMW Team RLL. This is particularly true for the logistics team, which delivers an outstanding performance between the two events.

TWO PORSCHE 911 RSR TO CONTEST IMSA SEASON’S ONE AND ONLY RACE IN CANADA

One highlight follows the other in the IMSA SportsCar Championship: Just a week after the six-hour classic at Watkins Glen, North America’s premier sports car race series makes its traditional detour over the border for Canada’s one and only round of the season contested on 8 July at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. The Porsche GT Team fields two 510 hp 911 RSR in the GTLM class on the very fast and demanding course close to Bowmanville. This category, in which four automobile manufacturers compete, is known to be particularly tough and is packed with suspense from start to finish. Porsche’s customer team Wright Motorsports runs two 911 GT3 R racers in the GTD class.

WATKINS GLEN AND CANADIAN TIRE MOTORSPORT PARK UP NEXT FOR BMW TEAM RLL

During the first four races of the 2018 season, the BMW M8 GTE scored a second place finish at the 12 Hours of Sebring (USA) with the #25 car of Bill Auberlen (USA), Connor De Phillippi (USA) and Alexander Sims (GBR) after starting from De Phillippi’s first GTLM class pole. A second pole by Edwards in the #24 BMW M8 GTE and De Phillippi and Sims’ second place finish in the #25 BMW M8 GTE at the most recent race at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course (USA) in early May showed the programme’s continuing competitiveness.
