Familiar team, new car – Rutronik Racing will again feature on the starting grid in season four of the ADAC GT Masters in 2022. The 2019 champions have put their faith in the evolution of a proven winner and will run two new Audi R8 LMS evo II in the German GT Championship. The modified Audi is set for its debut this year, and is the further development of the car that won the championship in 2016, 2019 and 2021. The new ADAC GT Masters season kicks off from 22nd to 23rd April in Oschersleben.

“We are pleased to line up with two cars again this year. We have enjoyed success in the past in the ADAC GT Masters, and we would love to add to that this year,” said Rutronik Racing team principal Fabian Plentz. After two years of restrictions as a result of the pandemic, the Audi team is not only hungry to put pedal to the metal on the track, but also wants to inspire visitors in the paddock. Rutronik is planning a bigger social media presence, with competitions to win pit lane tours, exclusive fan packages, and the new edition of a fan streetwear collection that proved hugely popular in 2020 and sold out within a matter of days. The four Rutronik Racing drivers that fans can look forward to seeing this year, and the design of the two new Audi, will be announced shortly.

The team from Remchingen, near Pforzheim in Baden Württemberg, enjoyed a sensational debut in the German GT Championship in 2019, winning both the Driver and Team competitions. Back then, Switzerland’s Patric Niederhauser and South African Kelvin van der Linde shared the driving duties in the Audi R8 LMS. Last year, Rutronik Racing, one of the largest Audi Sport Customer Racing teams, ended the season in eighth place in the championship and won a Pirelli Pole Position Award at the Red Bull Ring. The team has four wins and eight pole positions to its name so far in the ADAC GT Masters.
