United Autosports are delighted to confirm that Jonathan Aberdein will join their Le Mans 24 Hours team this year.

The South African driver will be making his Le Mans race debut with the team in the #32 Oreca 07, alongside Nico Jamin, with their co-driver still to be announced.

Jonathan joined United Autosports at the start of the 2021 season, racing in the European Le Mans Series alongside Phil Hanson and Tom Gamble in the #22 Oreca 07. They are currently lying third in the championship after two podium finishes out of three races. Jonathan has also previously raced in the DTM championship.

The Le Mans 24 Hours will be held on 21-22 August with the 2020 Le Mans winners entering three LMP2 cars – their full time FIA World Endurance Championship entry for Phil Hanson, Fabio Scherer and Filipe Albuquerque, as well as the #23 Oreca 07 for Paul Di Resta, Alex Lynn and a third driver still to be confirmed.

Jonathan Aberdein
“As we all know Le Mans is something special. It is a race that I have watched from my couch every year without fail for as long as I can remember. It is a real dream come true to be part of the race this year, especially with United Autosports. I’m really looking forward to taking on the challenge with Nico and our third co-driver. We will have a great driver line up and a fantastic team leading the way.”

Zak Brown
“I’m really pleased Jonathan will be joining our Le Mans team for 2021. He has settled into the team well in the ELMS and I’m excited to see what he can do at Le Mans.”

Richard Dean
“Making your Le Mans debut is something special, so I’m really pleased for Jonathan that he will get to experience that feeling this year. Although he has only been with the team since the start of the year, he has settled in well and picked up the workings of the LMP2 car very quickly. I’m sure he will work well with Nico and will benefit from Nico’s Le Mans experience.”
