Faust Salom heads to Barcelona for the fifth event of the 2019 GT Cup Open season in which the Spaniard is back to drive the Teo Martín Motorsport-run McLaren 570S at his home round at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Salom, who will be racing in front of his crowd of family, friends and sponsors, expects to deliver his best performance of the season in the GT Cup Open.

Salom and the team led by Teo Martín kicked off their preseason testing together at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, where the Spaniard got his first taste of a McLaren machinery in March. Due to Barcelona being his home round, which is a morale booster, and development work completed by Teo Martín Motorsport and Salom himself, they are aiming for a Pro-am class podium finish on the Catalan track. Salom delivered strong performances at iconic European tracks such as Silverstone, Spa-Francorchamps or Hungaroring.

“Finally we head to Barcelona for our home round in the GT Cup Open, which takes place in Barcelona. It brings me so many memories back as I achieved key results there to claim the Spanish Touring Car Championship titles there. I have plenty of experience in Barcelona. My family, friends, fans and sponsors will attend this event, so it makes it so special. It and the committed effort of Teo Martín Motorsport to continue developing our McLaren cars will enable us to go a step further and fight for our maiden podium finish in the series. A result that we deserve. As usual, I have intensively worked to prepare properly this round mentally and physically at Teo Martín Motorsport’s MSi. Besides, I have spent hours on the simulator. Unlike previous rounds, I already know Barcelona but every small detail counts”, explains Salom. The young Spanish GT ace adds that “I`m ready to score a strong result. If Lady Luck is slightly on our side, I’m sure we will able to clinch that well-deserved podium finish. Once again, I would like to thank my friends, family and sponsors, and of course Teo Martín Motorsport itself, for their support. The whole project would be impossible without any of them. Let’s start!”

Salom will hit the track today for two private test sessions with two other free practice sessions scheduled tomorrow. After two qualifying sessions, race 1 will take place at 14.00 (CET GMT+2) at Saturday with race 2 bringing the curtain down on Sunday at 17.00 (CET GMT+2). Both races will consist of 55 minutes each.
