Last weekend, Tiago Monteiro took part in the International Open GT in Budapest, alongside Lourenço da Veiga Beirão, with whom he made up a crew for the Costa Campos Team. The Portuguese driver adapted perfectly to this category by placing the BMW M6 GT3 in 4th place on the grid and then finishing the first race in 5th place.
Unfortunately, before the second race was able to take place, an incident forced him to retire. At the end of it all however, Tiago was pleased with his debut in this championship. “After so many years away from GT races, I think my return was very positive and productive. I had only a little time to adapt to the car and these races are very different to those of the FIA WTCC with Honda, but it still went very well. The race was very interesting with a lot of battles and I am satisfied with the end result.I’m sorry about the second race, I could not even get in the car! But, it happens sometimes. Having said that, I would like to thank everyone in the team for having welcomed me, as well as Honda for allowing me this opportunity. I hope to participate in another event before the end of the year,” concluded Tiago.
The Honda Civic # 18 driver will now focus on the next round of the FIA WTCC that will be held in Argentina in two weeks time.
