MERCEDES-AMG GT4: A NEW EDITION OF A SUCCESSFUL MODEL

Following the launch of the new Mercedes-AMG GT3, Mercedes-AMG presents the further development of its globally successful GT4 model for the tenth anniversary season of its Customer Racing Programme. The new Mercedes-AMG GT4 (model year 2020) features new design characteristics and technical optimisations that, among others, enhance the endurance racing performance. Thanks to improved engine and brake cooling, the new Mercedes-AMG GT4 is also able to reliably bring its top performance to the track in extremely hot conditions. Once the homologation has been completed, the first examples of the new model will be delivered in March, 2020.

EFP CAR COLLECTION BY TECE SIGN MARKUS WINKLEHOCK FOR ADAC GT MASTERS

The latest EFP Car Collection by TECE signing is a high-profile name in the sport. Former F1 driver Markus Winkelhock (39, GER) has been recruited to strengthen the team’s challenge in the 2020 ADAC GT Masters. The Audi sports driver will share an Audi R8 LMS with Florian Spengler (32, GER). Elia Erhart (31, GER) and Pierre Kaffer (43, GER) will again drive the sister car. The 14th season of the ADAC GT Masters gets underway at Oschersleben on the weekend of 24th – 26th April.

SCHUBERT MOTORSPORT RETURNS TO THE ADAC GT MASTERS

One of the most successful teams ever to compete in the ADAC GT Masters is returning to the Super Sports Car League. Schubert Motorsport will field two BMW M6 GT3s as they stage their comeback. The first car will be driven by DTM race winner, Joel Eriksson (21, SWE) and Aidan Read (21, AUS) while Henric Skoog (23, SWE), BMW works driver Erik Johansson (23, SWE) and Nick Yelloly (29, GB) will share the drive in the team’s second car. The ADAC GT Masters will get its season under way on the weekend of 26th-28th April at Oschersleben which is Schubert Motorsport’s home circuit.

PORSCHE SETS SIGHTS ON FIRST WIN WITH THE NEW 911 RSR IN THE USA

At round five of the Sports Car World Endurance Championship WEC at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin on 23 February, Porsche aims to clinch its first U.S. victory with the new 911 RSR. After a successful start to the 2019/2020 season with a one-two at Silverstone (Great Britain) as well as podium spots in Fuji (Japan) and Shanghai (China), fifth and sixth places followed at the Sakhir (Bahrain) race in December prior to the winter break. Moreover, the Porsche GT Team had posted pole position three times. After four rounds, the works team currently ranks second in the manufacturers’ classification with the two latest-generation Porsche 911 RSR racers. In the drivers’ category, the two ca. 515 hp GT racers sit third and fifth. Three customer teams field another five 2017-spec Porsche 911 RSR in the GTE-Am class at the six-hour race in Austin, Texas.

ASTON MARTIN TO RE-EVALUATE HYPERCAR RACE PROGRAMME

Aston Martin Lagonda has postponed development of its World Endurance Championship (WEC) Hypercar race entry, following the recent decision by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) and the International Motor Sport Association (IMSA) to harmonise the Hypercar class with the so-called LMDh prototype category in the WEC from 2021 and the US-based WeatherTech Sportscar Championship from 2022.
