BMW Team RLL reached the podium in the GTLM class at the 59th edition of the Rolex 24 at Daytona (USA). After 24 hours of racing at Daytona International Speedway, the #24 MOTUL BMW M8 GTE secured third place. The #25 car completed the classic race in the US state of Florida in fifth position. MERCEDES-AMG MOTORSPORT WITH HISTORIC 1-2 IN THE DAYTONA 24-HOURS

Mercedes-AMG has a brilliant start of the 2021 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. In the Rolex 24 At Daytona, the performance and sports car brand from Affalterbach scores a sensational 1-2 in the GTD class. Indy Dontje (NED), Philip Ellis (SUI), Maro Engel (GER) and Russell Ward (USA) secure first place with the #57 Mercedes-AMG GT3 run by Winward Racing. Second place at Daytona International Speedway goes to Mikaël Grenier (CAN), Kenny Habul (AUS), Raffaele Marciello (ITA) and Luca Stolz (GER) in the #75 SunEnergy1 Racing car. The double success also marks the maiden victory by a Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing Team in the race in Florida with its long tradition. In previous years, Mercedes-AMG Motorsport already won the Michelin Endurance Cup, the hard-fought endurance classification in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, twice already, but never managed to win the classic 24-hour race at Daytona so far. Ninth place in the GTD class for the #28 Alegra Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT3 rounds out the historic achievement.

ERA MOTORSPORT CLAIMS MAIDEN VICTORY AT ROLEX 24 AT DAYTONA

Just one year after making their IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship debut, Era Motorsport earned their first series win at one of the most challenging sports car endurance races in North America, the Rolex 24 At Daytona. Drivers Kyle Tilley, Dwight Merriman, Ryan Dalziel, and Paul-Loup Chatin drove the No. 18 Oreca LMP2 car to victory, scoring a class win at only the team’s second attempt at the iconic event.

WRIGHT MOTORSPORTS’ PORSCHE 911 GT3 R FINISHES FOURTH AT DAYTONA

The Porsche customer team Wright Motorsports has secured fourth place in the GTD class at the 24 Hours of Daytona. Factory driver Patrick Long from the USA shared driving duties in the No. 16 Porsche 911 GT3 R with his compatriot Trent Hindman, Jan Heylen from Belgium and Klaus Bachler from Austria. Over long stretches, the 500+hp GT3 vehicle fielded by the team from the U.S. state of Ohio was on course for a podium result, however, a collision cost the squad considerable time. The Hardpoint EBM team’s first outing fielding a Porsche 911 GT3 R concluded with tenth place.

WRIGHT MOTORSPORTS IN THE LEADING PACK AT DAYTONA

The Porsche 911 GT3 R fielded by the Wright Motorsports customer team lies in a promising position after three hours of racing at the Daytona 24 Hours. The 500+hp vehicle run by the experienced squad from the US state of Ohio currently ranks fourth in the GTD class after a turbulent start to the season-opening round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Meanwhile, in the hotly contested GTLM category, bad luck has plagued the WeatherTech Racing team. The No. 79 Porsche 911 RSR got caught up in an accident at the start and is now running at the back of the field.
