PORSCHE GT TEAM STRIVES FOR OUTRIGHT VICTORY IN VIRGINIA

The Porsche GT Team fields two 911 RSR at round nine of the IMSA SportsCar Championship season on the Virginia International Raceway on 19 August. The 510-hp racer from Weissach, which has already notched up victories at the 12 Hours of Sebring and the Mid-Ohio race so far this season, tackles the infamously cutthroat GTLM class against strong opposition from BMW, Chevrolet and Ford. In the GTD class, Porsche’s customer team Wright Motorsports campaigns the 911 GT3 R, which recently celebrated its first win this year in the USA at Road America. The prototypes will be absent at the venerable 5.263-kilometre racetrack close to Alton in the US state of Virginia for the second time this season. This means that overall victory will go to a GT car.

PAUL MILLER RACING CARRIES MOMENTUM AND POINTS LEAD TO ROAD AMERICA

Following a dominating win two weeks ago at Lime Rock Park, Paul Miller Racing will enter this weekend’s Continental Tire Road Race Showcase at Road America with a ten point lead. The No. 48 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 has yet to finish outside the top four in seven races, making Bryan Sellers and Madison Snow the duo to watch in round eight of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

ESM RETURNS TO ROAD AMERICA TO DEFEND DPi WIN

After a series of challenging races in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, Tequila Patrón ESM is pressing on to the next round in the championship to Road America, where the team earned Nissan its first DPi win in 2017. Drivers Johannes van Overbeek and Pipo Derani brought the No. 22 Nissan Onroak DPi to victory with drivers Scott Sharp and Ryan Dalziel finishing third in the No. 2 Nissan Onroak DPi, scoring the team a double podium finish.

WALKENHORST ON SENSATIONAL VICTORY WITH THE BMW M6 GT3: “THIS WIN MEANS AN AWFUL LOT TO EVERY ONE OF US.”

The biggest success in the history of Walkenhorst Motorsport so far is the  sensational victory at the iconic Spa-Francorchamps (BEL) 24 Hours. After 24 hours and 511 laps of racing, the BMW customer racing  team from Melle near Osnabrück (GER) came home ahead of all the high-class teams from other manufacturers. The #34 BMW M6 GT3, driven by BMW works drivers Philipp Eng (AUT) and Tom Blomqvist (GBR) together with their team-mate Christian Krognes (NOR), crossed the finish line in first place. The BMW success was rounded off by a fine second place for the ROWE Racing #99 BMW M6 GT3 which, like Walkenhorst Motorsport, is a customer team supported by BMW Motorsport.

WHELEN ENGINEERING RACING SETS SIGHTS ON ROAD AMERICA

With two wins in the last three years at the legendary Wisconsin track, there is little question about why Whelen Engineering Racing looks forward to racing at Road America. That anticipation will be strongest this week as the team prepares for the next round of IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship competition on Sunday(FS1 2:30 PM ET broadcast) at the 4-mile natural terrain circuit in Elkhart Lake.

PARKER CHASE AND RYAN DALZIEL DOMINATE PORTLAND WITH DOUBLE VICTORY

Scoring three wins already in 2018, 17-year-old New Braunfels, Texas resident Parker Chase and co-driver Ryan Dalziel added another pair of victories this past weekend at the Portland International Raceway. Competing in the Pirelli World Challenge GT SprintX Pro-Am program, Chase and Dalziel claimed the top step of the podium in both Pro/Am races as the duo also piloted their #19 Vertical Bridge / New Braunfels Convention and Visitors Bureau / ProBalance Protein Water / Music Movement / eRaceAutism.com Audi R8 GT3 LMS to the overall victory on Sunday.

JASON BELL HEADS WEST TO PORTLAND

Global Motorsports Group driver Jason Bell is heading west to Portland, Oregon for the next round of the Pirelli World Challenge. Set to take on the Portland International Raceway, Bell will be shooting for the race win as he pilots a brand new Audi R8 GT4 LMS after an incident at Road America destroyed his primary car.

BEST FINISH OF THE SEASON FOR AFS/PR1 MATHIASEN MOTORSPORTS AT MID-OHIO
