Former champion Jules Gounon (26/F, Team Zakspeed Mobil Krankenkasse Racing) set the fastest time in the opening free practice session of the German GT Championship at the Sachsenring. In doing so, he backed up his impressive performance last time out at the Lausitzring, where he claimed pole position, victory and the fastest lap. Behind the Mercedes-AMG works driver were Porsche and Audi drivers.

ive years have passed since Flying Lizard Motorsports has raced at Sebring International Raceway, and this weekend, the team makes its return to the legendary track for a double-header race event in the GT America powered by aws. The black, grey, and yellow Lizard-liveried Porsche 911 GT3 R of Andy Wilzoch and the green and red TKO Motorsports Bentley Continental GT3 driven by Memo Gidley will contest in the weekend, joining the field of 23 cars.

DXDT RACING SETS SIGHTS ON SEBRING INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY

The battle for the Pro/Am championship title in the GT World Challenge America series continues this weekend at Sebring International Raceway, and DXDT Racing is ready to put in a strong effort to close the 20-point gap to the leaders in the team standings. With three wins and seven podiums, DXDT Racing has been persistent all season long in the top class, consistently showing the strength of the Mercedes AMG customer racing program, led by team owner David Askew.

PORSCHE CARRERA CUP ASIA TO HOST INVITATIONAL EVENT AT MACAU

The 2021 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia (PCCA) will hold an invitational round at Macau’s legendary Guia Circuit on 19-21 November for the Macau GP. The non-championship event will be the series’ first visit to Macau since 2013, with the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992) set to make its maiden appearance on the world-famous street circuit.

WRIGHT TARGETS CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE AT SEBRING DOUBLEHEADER

For the first time since 2009, SRO America will return to Sebring International Raceway this weekend for the penultimate rounds of the Fanatec GT World Challenge America. Wright Motorsports leads the Pro/Am team championship by 20 points, and after a podium finish at Watkins Glen International last month, drivers Jan Heylen and Fred Poordad are expected to be strong contenders to return to Victory Circle in this weekend’s 90-minute doubleheaders. The duo currently leads in the driver point standings by 58 points and could win their respective championship this weekend.

However, the Italian, who is battling for the title in the German GT Championship, is an unassuming character: “I am not a star, but just a normal person doing his job.” The Mercedes-AMG works driver will have another opportunity to ‘do his job’ this weened (1st to 3rd October), when he lines up alongside Maximilian Buhk (28/Hamburg) in a Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo at the Sachsenring.
