ADAC GT MASTERS LOCAL FAVOURITES LOOK FORWARD TO THE DEMANDING SACHSENRING

The local boys are out to show how things are done in Saxony when they line up at their home event in the German GT Championship at the Sachsenring (1st to 3rd October). Drivers and teams from the free state are traditionally very strongly represented in the ADAC GT Masters: Corvette driver Marvin Kirchhöfer (27/Leipzig, Callaway Competition) and Lamborghini driver Maximilian Paul (21/Dresden, T3 Motorsport) are determined to give their fans every reason to celebrate on the weekend of German Unity Day. As well as the local drivers, the T3 Motorsport (Dresden) and Yaco Racing (Plauen) teams can also rely on the support of the fans: not only are spectators welcome at the Sachsenring, but they can also experience the series up close and personal in the paddock.

WALKENHORST MOTORSPORT SETS SIGHTS ON OVERALL VICTORY IN THE ARDENNES

Sights set on overall victory, whilst looking ahead to the future: BMW M Motorsport is focussing on two main sporting priorities at the highlight of this season’s FANATEC GT World Challenge Europe, the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps (BEL). In the race, Walkenhorst Motorsport, armed with the BMW M6 GT3 and a host of BMW works drivers, will be out to claim the team’s second overall victory, having previously won in 2018. The new BMW M4 GT3 will complete a number of demo laps after Superpole on Friday. Not only will the car be presented, but also the hybrid steering wheel, developed in collaboration with FANATEC. The flood disaster in Germany and Belgium is another important topic. Among other things, the BMW Group is donating 1.5 million euros to support the rescue services in the disaster areas. As an expression of sympathy, the BMW race cars at Spa-Francorchamps will bear the message ‘We stand together’.

The ADAC GT Masters passes another milestone next weekend (16th – 18th October) when the Red Bull Ring in Austria hosts the 100th event and the 200th race on Sunday. The ‘Super Sports Car League’ was inaugurated in 2007 and is now considered to be one of the world’s leading GT series. The ADAC recognised the potential of the GT3 class as soon as it was introduced 14 years ago, and the ADAC GT Masters is now the longest-running series in the world based on this successful concept. SPORT1 will be showing both races from the Red Bull Ring, with live coverage on Saturday and Sunday commencing at 13:00 CEST.
