The historical Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps is the venue for the penultimate round of the 2020 Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe season, with the race for the title closer than ever following an action-filled previous round in Barcelona.

Despite being in contention for both wins in Spain, Dean Stoneman enters the weekend at Spa just one point clear of Oregon Team’s Dorian Boccolacci and Kevin Gilardoni after the series newcomers recorded a double victory.

Pro and Pro-Am

With Barcelona team-mate Patrick Kujala on GT3 duties this weekend, Stoneman returns to a solo entry for Spa, while new chief title rivals Boccolacci and Gilardoni again provide a stern test.

Erstwhile points leaders Miloš Pavlović and Raul Guzman will be eager to bounce back from a disappointing time in Barcelona this weekend, in their Target Racing Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo Evo. The pairing had led the points entering the Spanish weekend, but an eighth-place finish in Race 1 and a non-start in the second relegated them to fourth in the standings.

Two crews who enjoyed another positive weekend in Spain are also keen for a strong time at Spa. GSM Racing’s Jonathan Cecotto and Patrick Liddy scored their first overall podium in Race 2 while the Target Racing duo of Alberto di Folco and Kevin Rossel continue to impress this season.

Italian GT regular and former Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia driver Yuki Nemoto joins VS Racing this weekend for his first Super Trofeo race of the year. He replaces FIA Formula 3 driver Sebastian Fernandez who in turn, stood in for Olli Kangas at Barcelona.

In Pro-Am, Brazilian Victor Franzoni da Silva joins compatriot Alan Moreira Hellmeister at Oregon in a late change in line-up. Franzoni da Silva was part of the crew, alongside Lorenzo Bontempelli, which took its maiden class victory last time out.

Leading the Pro-Am category heading into the weekend is the VS Racing crew of Karol Basz and Andrzej Lewandowski, who bounced back from a disappointing opening race at Barcelona to extend their points advantage with victory in Race 2.

Among the challengers in the class will be the improving Leipert Motorsport combination of Mikko Eskelinen and Elias Niskanen. The Finnish partnership are looking for their first class triumph of the season at Spa.

Am and LB Cup

The Am title race took a surprising turn last time out as Leipert Motorsport’s Yury Wagner and Fidel Leib finally got the results they deserved, winning both races ahead of points leader Massimo Mantovani who was joined by Sri Lankan Dilantha Malagamuwa for the first time this year.

Although Leib is not in realistic title contention, Wagner’s double win puts him on the same score (61 points) as Boutsen Ginion’s Giuseppe Fascicolo – who this weekend teams up with Marc Rostan, 20 points behind Mantovani.

A double win for Imperiale Racing’s Hans Fabri has helped the Dutchman open up a 35-point margin over Kurt Wagner and Libor Dvoracek (Micanek Motorsport ACCR) in the Lamborghini Cup standings, while Konrad Motorsport’s Martin Lechman and Emir Keserovic are set to return to action after missing Barcelona.

How the weekend looks

Race 1 will take place on Friday 23rd and is scheduled to start at 13:10. Race 2 is due to start at 12:50 CEST on Saturday 24th. Both races, which include a mandatory pit-stop, last for 50 minutes and are streamed live on the Squadra Corse YouTube channel and Facebook page.

Ahead of the races, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the iconic Lamborghini Diablo, the lead car for both 50-minute encounters will be a rare Diablo VT 6.0 SE from 2001, a product of the MuDeTec collection in the Museo delle Tecnologie of Sant’Agata Bolognese.
