HANAFIN AND JEWISS WIN AS PORSCHE CARRERA CUP GB CHAMPIONSHIP FIGHT INTENSIFIES

Porsche Carrera Cup GB – the fastest single marque GT racing championship in the UK – traveled to Oulton Park for its third weekend of the 2021 season. The Cheshire circuit’s 2.2 mile Island configuration is a favourite with drivers in all three categories thanks to its undulating nature and mix of challenging corners with little room for error. Following an ongoing investigation and judicial hearing by the Clark of the Course, Colin Oakley, into two remaining incidents from the Brands Hatch weekend, Dan Cammish (Redline Racing) was docked a total of four championship points and four category points for his incidents with Porsche GB Junior Harry King (Team Parker Racing) and Jamie Orton (JTR) in Round 4. This promoted Rookie Kiern Jewiss (Team Parker Racing) to the Pro category championship lead. 

PORSCHE MOTORSPORT GB LOOKS SET TO DELIVER TITLE THRILLERS IN 2021

Porsche Motorsport GB enters what could be its most exciting season to date with two established championships welcoming a mix of familiar names and exciting newcomers – including two new teams. Porsche Carrera Cup GB, the fastest single marque GT racing championship in the UK, enters its 19th season which also marks the final year of the 485 hp second-generation ‘Type 991’ 911 GT3 Cup. A battle royale looks set to rage for title glory between reigning champion Porsche GB 2020 / 2021 Junior Harry King and one of the championship’s most successful drivers, 2015 and 2016 champion Dan Cammish. 

HAWKEY AND GRAHAM CROWNED AS PORSCHE GB JUNIOR KING WINS AT CARRERA CUP GB CHAMPIONSHIP FINALE

Porsche Carrera Cup GB – the fastest single marque GT racing championship in the UK – returned to Kent for the championship finale, this time taking place on the short and challenging Brands Hatch Indy circuit. Lorcan Hanafin (JTR) emerged as the fastest driver following Friday’s two Free Practice sessions which took place in mixed conditions. Ryan Ratcliffe (Team Parker) entered the weekend with a slim mathematical chance of Pro-Am title glory, he ended Friday as the fastest driver in the category, Am was topped by newly crowned 2020 category champion Justin Sherwood (Team Parker Racing). 

KING CONQUERS PORSCHE CARRERA CUP GB AT BRANDS HATCH

Following an exciting opening weekend, Porsche Carrera Cup GB – the fastest single marque GT racing championship in the UK – welcomed the arrival of its second consecutive weekend of action with two Friday Practice sessions on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit. Porsche GB 2020 / 2021 Junior Harry King (Team Parker Racing) and teammate Josh Webster (Team Parker Racing) engaged in a close battle during the morning session, Porsche GB Junior King finishing ahead by the slimmest of margins – just 0.005secs. Conducted in searing August temperatures, the afternoon Practice session was topped by Rookie teammates Matthew Graham (Redline Racing) and Scott McKenna (Redline Racing) – Graham posting the day’s fastest overall time. Esmee Hawkey (Team Parker) continued her strong form from the championship’s opening weekend to head the Pro-Am category, Lucky Khera (Simon Green Motorsport) was Friday’s quickest Am driver.

TIO ELLINAS TOPS PORSCHE CARRERA CUP GB FRIDAY PRACTICE AT SILVERSTONE

Reigning Porsche Carrera Cup GB champion Tio Ellinas (Redline Racing) made a spectacular return to the championship, setting the fastest time of the day during Friday’s practice sessions at Silverstone. 2018 Porsche Carrera Cup GB champion Ellinas lapped Silverstone’s fast National circuit in 54.971, ending the day marginally ahead of championship challenger Lewis Plato (Motorbase Performance) and George Gamble (Amigos Redline Racing) – just 0.137secs separating the trio. Mixed conditions throughout the day saw both morning and afternoon sessions interrupted by rain, the slippery circuit preparing the field for a weekend forecast to include unpredictable spells of wet weather.

PORSCHE GB JUNIOR HARPER TOPS CARRERA CUP GB SILVERSTONE PRACTICE

18-year-old Porsche GB 2018 / 2019 Junior Dan Harper (JTR) led both Friday Free Practice Sessions at Silverstone as the Porsche Carrera Cup GB kick-started its blue riband weekend in support of the 2019 / 2020 World Endurance Championship (WEC). Both morning and afternoon sessions featured a close battle between Porsche GB Junior Harper and 2014 Porsche Carrera Cup GB champion Josh Webster (Team Parker Racing) – in the afternoon session the pair were separated by just 0.057 seconds around the full 3.6-mile Grand Prix circuit. Championship title challenger Lewis Plato (Motorbase Performance) finished both sessions in P3.

PORSCHE GB LAUNCHES SEARCH FOR 2020/2021 JUNIOR DRIVER

GAMBLE ON FORM AS PORSCHE CARRERA CUP GB RETURNS TO THRUXTON

George Gamble (Amigos Redline Racing) set the fastest time of the day during Friday’s practice sessions at Thruxton. Returning to the Hampshire circuit for the first time since 2014, the Porsche Carrera Cup GB endured a mixture of dry and wet conditions which saw Gamble head the morning’s dry session, and Lewis Plato (Motorbase Performance) top a wet afternoon practice. Current championship leader 18-year-old Porsche GB 2018 / 2019 Junior Dan Harper (JTR) set the second quickest time of the day – just 0.303 seconds off that of Gamble.

HARPER LEADS PORSCHE CARRERA CUP CHAMPIONSHIP FIGHT AT SEASON MIDPOINT

As the Porsche Carrera Cup GB, the fastest single marque GT racing championship in the UK, closed out the first half of its 2019 season at Oulton Park, 18-year-old Porsche GB 2018 / 2019 Junior Dan Harper (JTR) emerged leading the overall championship standings. Two thrilling races in Cheshire saw victories for Junior Harper and George Gamble (Amigos Redline Racing), Harper’s other championship rival Lewis Plato (Motorbase Performance) added to his impressive tally of podium finishes with two further visits.

18-year-old Porsche GB 2018 / 2019 Junior Dan Harper (JTR) took the sixth pole position of his Porsche Carrera Cup GB career at Oulton Park. Harper was involved in a hard-fought battle for a front row starting spot with George Gamble (Amigos Redline Racing), Lewis Plato (Motorbase Performance) and returnee Tom Wrigley (Rob Boston Racing). The top Rookie was Tom Roche (Rob Boston Racing) who qualified an impressive fourth, but championship contender Josh Webster (Team Parker Racing) will be a driver to watch at the start of round seven as he starts from the third row of the grid.

PORSCHE PRODIGIES ESTABLISH THRILLING CARRERA CUP GB TITLE BATTLE

18-year-old Porsche GB 2018 / 2019 Junior Dan Harper (JTR) overcame challenging slippery conditions to take a commanding pole position at Croft. The current championship leader topped Saturday’s qualifying session with a lap time more than 1.2secs faster than his closest rivals – Lewis Plato (Motorbase Performance) in P2 and George Gamble (Amigos Redline Racing) in P3. The trio, who also currently occupy the top three places in the driver’s championship standings, will start the first of tomorrow’s two races ahead of former Porsche GB Scholar and 2014 Carrera Cup GB champion Josh Webster (Team Parker Racing).

A podium finish in race two further underlined Harper as a title contender and leaves him heading to Donington Park – scene of his first Porsche podium – with an early three point championship lead.
