BEST PORSCHE 911 GT3 R ON FIFTH GRID SPOT FOR THE CALIFORNIA 8 HOURS

The two American Porsche customer teams Wright Motorsports and Park Place Motorsports have achieved respectable starting positions for the eight-hour race at Laguna Seca. Matt Campbell (Australia) posted the fifth quickest time at the pole shootout in the 500+hp Porsche 911 GT3 R with the starting number 912. In the identical No. 911 car, Porsche Young Professional Mathieu Jaminet (France) achieved eight place.

MERCEDES-AMG READY TO TAKE ON ROUND TWO OF THE INTERCONTINENTAL CHALLENGE

From 28-30 March, the California 8 Hours will be taking place in Monterey, USA. The race at the legendary Laguna Seca Raceway is the second of this season’s five rounds of the Intercontinental GT Challenge Powered by Pirelli. In the hard-fought endurance race series, Mercedes-AMG is leading the manufacturers’ standings having claimed third and fourth place in the 12-hour race at Bathurst. To defend its leading position in the race in the US, the performance and sports car brand from Affalterbach is relying on four Mercedes-AMG GT3s with a high-quality line-up.

EXCLUSIVE NEW EDITION OF THE PORSCHE 935

Porsche has unveiled the new 935 on the occasion of the historic “Rennsport Reunion” motorsport event at Laguna Seca Raceway in California. The 515 kW (700 hp) racer featuring a body reminiscent of the legendary Porsche 935/78 will be produced in a limited number of 77 units. “This spectacular car is a birthday present from Porsche Motorsport to fans all over the world,” says Dr Frank-Steffen Walliser, Vice President Motorsport and GT Cars. “Because the car isn’t homologated, engineers and designers didn’t have to follow the usual rules and thus had freedom in the development.” 

TEAM PANOZ RACING TO RETURN IN 2019 AS A TRIBUTE TO DON PANOZ

Further to the sad circumstances earlier this month, the passing of Dr. Don Panoz, Team Panoz Racing can confirm that they will be returning to the track in 2019 to honor the legacy of the late team owner. Don Panoz passed on Tuesday, September 11th, following a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Known for saving sports car racing in North America and always trying to have the most technologically advanced car on track, the team will race in his name, aiming to enjoy a 23rdyear of racing success in 2019.

Registration for IGTC California 8 Hours Now Open

The entries for the Grand Finale of the 2018 Intercontinental GT Challenge, the California 8 Hours, are now open. The longest endurance race on the magnificent Laguna Circuit had its inaugural edition last season and will now be the deciding round for the only global GT3 championship. To facilitate the life of teams wishing to compete in both events, the California 8 Hours will now be organised on a new date, bringing the gap with the Petit Le Mans race to two weeks. The California 8 Hours will now be held from 25th to 28th October 2018.
