2023’s Intercontinental GT Challenge Powered by Pirelli campaign continues this weekend in South Africa where some of the world’s best sports car teams and drivers have assembled for the Kyalami 9 Hour (February 23-25).

SunEnergy1 and Mercedes-AMG defended their LIQUI MOLY Bathurst 12 crown in epic fashion and made the perfect start to this year’s Intercontinental GT Challenge Powered by Pirelli campaign by beating Manthey EMA and GruppeM Racing to victory in Australia’s International Enduro.

GruppeM Racing and Mercedes-AMG’s Maro Engel clinched his second Allan Simonsen Pole Position Trophy by setting the fastest lap ever recorded at the LIQUI MOLY Bathurst 12 Hour during this afternoon’s Pirelli Top-10 Shootout.

Season eight of Intercontinental GT Challenge Powered by Pirelli gets underway Down Under this weekend when the globe-trotting GT3 series visits Mount Panorama and the LIQUI MOLY Bathurst 12 Hour (February 3-5).

Antonio Fuoco, James Calado and Alessandro Pier Guidi led home a Ferrari and AF Corse – Francorchamps Motors one-two at the Gulf 12 Hours, while Daniel Juncadella secured the 2022 Intercontinental GT Challenge Powered by Pirelli drivers’ championship despite his GruppeM Racing Mercedes-AMG’s early retirement.

A new event awaits Intercontinental GT Challenge Powered by Pirelli this weekend when the globe-trotting GT3 series stages its season finale at the Gulf 12 Hours (December 9-11).

With the Gulf 12 Hours on 11th December, a successful Intercontinental GT Challenge season is coming to an end for Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing. The twelve-hour race at the 5.281 kilometres long Yas Marina Circuit is part of the IGTC calendar for the first time this year. Moreover, with 34 participating cars, it is also the biggest GT3 race in the Middle East.

Mercedes-AMG has clinched the 2022 Intercontinental GT Challenge Powered by Pirelli manufacturers’ title, as well as its fourth-straight IGTC victory, by winning the Indianapolis 8 Hour Presented by AWS at the Brickyard this evening.

Mercedes-AMG is celebrating its first TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa victory since 2013 after AMG Team Akkodis ASP won an enthralling 74th edition of the Belgian endurance classic, which was staged in front of a packed house of spectators and in perfect weather conditions from start to finish. 

Five manufacturers and 22 cars – 14 of them featuring Pro driver line-ups – will contest Intercontinental GT Challenge Powered by Pirelli’s second round of 2022 at the TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa this weekend.

For its season opener, the Intercontinental GT Challenge (IGTC) is returning to the Mount Panorama Circuit in Bathurst this weekend. The field for the popular Bathurst 12 Hour includes, among others, six Mercedes-AMG customer sport teams, each of them taking on the huge challenges of the traditional circuit in the southeast of Australia with one Mercedes-AMG GT3. Next to Mercedes-AMG Team Craft Bamboo Racing that will be participating with extended support from Affalterbach, the teams are Nineteen Corporation Pty Ltd, RAM Motorsport, SunEnergy1 Racing, Triple Eight Race Engineering and Valmont Racing. Like in previous years, Mercedes-AMG is again providing the safety car for this legendary race.

AKKA ASP Team Mercedes-AMG have won the 2021 Joburg Kyalami 9 Hour while Audi Sport and Ferrari’s Come Ledogar and Alessandro Pier Guidi wrapped up the Intercontinental GT Challenge Powered by Pirelli Manufacturers’ and Drivers’ titles, respectively, in South Africa.

After the pandemic forced a postponement of the IGTC final race from December 4, 2021, to February 5, 2022, Audi Sport customer racing concluded the 2021 season with another title success: in 2016, 2017 and 2018, Audi Sport was already the best manufacturer in the only global GT3 racing series, and now the company has left four other sports car brands behind by winning the title at Kyalami.

 In the second event of the 2021 Intercontinental GT Challenge, Mercedes-AMG Team AKKA ASP scored a podium finish with its starting number 89 entry. In the 8-hour race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Timur Boguslavskiy (RUS), Daniel Juncadella (ESP) and Raffaele Marciello (ITA) crossed the finish line in second place. SunEnergy1 Racing also finished in the top ten with Mikael Grenier (CAN), Kenny Habul (AUS) and Martin Konrad (AUT) in tenth place, securing victory in the Pro-Am class.

The largest-ever entry for an Intercontinental GT Challenge Powered by Pirelli round in North America assembles at the world-famous Brickyard next weekend (October 15-17) when 41 cars tackle the Indianapolis 8 Hour Presented by AWS.

Porsche will defend the Intercontinental GT Challenge Powered by Pirelli Manufacturers’ title this year after officially confirming its participation in the globetrotting series.

This year’s Intercontinental GT Challenge Powered by Pirelli campaign will feature three rounds on as many continents following SRO Motorsports Group’s decision not to replace the Suzuka 10 Hours.
