McLAREN AUTOMOTIVE CONFIRMS MULTI-YEAR DEAL WITH IMSA SPORTSCAR CHAMPIONSHIP

McLaren Automotive has confirmed a multi-year agreement with IMSA – the International Motor Sports Association – which will see customer teams racing as part of the US- and Canada-based IMSA WeatherTech Sprint Cup season in 2019, and McLaren officially entered as a manufacturer for the largest GT3 championship in the US market. This announcement comes as McLaren customer team Compass Racing unveils the striking new livery for its 2019 challenger, in the form of the McLaren 720S GT3 which will contest the newly-launched Sprint Cup championship this season.

GRT GRASSER RACING WITH SENSATIONAL WIN IN 12 HOURS OF SEBRING

After their amazing victory in the 24 Hours of Daytona in January, GRT Grasser Racing did it again this weekend. The green-orange Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo fielded by the team from Styria triumphed again in the second race of the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship on Sebring’s famous circuit. And once more, it was the well-practised team of GT veterans, Mirko Bortolotti, Rolf Ineichen and Rik Breukers, who stood on the top step of the podium in the GTD class.

MEYER SHANK RACING SCORES SEVENTH AT SEBRING

A powerful run in rapidly changing conditions saw the No. 86 Meyer Shank Racing Acura NSX GT3 Evo lead 60 laps of the 67th annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring on Saturday in round two of the 2019 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Despite strong pace and team execution, an unfortunate late race penalty brought the car down the order to finish seventh at Sebring International Raceway on Saturday.

PAUL MILLER RACING ANNOUNCES DEPARTURE OF 2018 CHAMPION MADISON SNOW

Following an incredibly successful season in the 2018 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, GTD champion Madison Snow will not return to Paul Miller Racing in 2019 to defend his title. The young racer will leave his hobby of sports car racing to focus on his current role in the family business, a role which he has held for the last four years. Snow leaves Paul Miller Racing after three seasons with the team and co-driver Bryan Sellers. Together, Snow, Sellers, and Paul Miller Racing celebrated three wins, thirteen podiums, and twenty top-five finishes.

PORSCHE WINS PETIT LE MANS

The Porsche GT Team has won the final round of the 2018 IMSA Weathertech SportsCar Championship. Patrick Pilet (France), Nick Tandy (Great Britain) and Frédéric Makowiecki (France) won the Petit Le Mans race at Road Atlanta on Saturday. In the race over ten hours at Braselton, Georgia, Porsche put in a strong performance against tough competition in the GTLM class. Thanks to perfect tactics and a flawless race, the ca. 510 hp Porsche 911 RSR scored its third win of the season in the North American championship. Laurens Vanthoor (Belgium), Earl Bamber (New Zealand) and Mathieu Jaminet (France) concluded the last IMSA race of the year in sixth place.
