BRITISH TEENAGER HANSON CONTINUES FAST ASCENT IN SPORTSCAR RACING

British teenager Phil Hanson is quickly making his mark in endurance sportscar racing having arrived in the category in an unconventional way. His first foray into motorsport came at the exceptionally “old” age of 15, karting for two years, before opting to go GT racing and then straight in to sports-prototype racing, in LMP3 late 2016 then LMP2 the following year. His rise has been remarkable: the youngest Asian Le Mans Series LMP3 champion (2016-17), youngest overall finisher in the history of the world-famous Le Mans 24 Hours (2017), youngest European Le Mans Series outright race winner (2018) and now the youngest ever overall Asian Le Mans Series champion (2018-19).

JULIEN CANAL PARTNERS STEVENS AND BINDER AS PANIS-BARTHEZ COMPETITION COMPLETES ONE OF ITS ELMS lINE-UP

For the upcoming European Le Mans Series season and the Le Mans 24 Hours (subject to ACO approval), the Ligier JS P217 # 23 line-up is now officially fully staffed. Julien Canal, with an impressive track record (3 wins at 24H of Le Mans , GTE AM and LMP2 World Champion in WEC…) joins his last year’s teammate, the Englishman Will Stevens, and the Austrian newcomer Rene Binder.

WILL STEVENS REMAINS WITH PANIS-BARTHEZ COMPETITION IN 2019

Will Stevens will once again carry the Panis-Barthez Competition colours in the 2019 ELMS program and for the next 24 Hours of Le Mans – subject to confirmation by the ACO. The 27-year-old Briton, under Triple A management – led by Didier Coton-, has shown all his talent on track throughout the past season by climbing twice on the podium and signing a pole position on the wet in Spa. Former Formula 1 driver and the french team shared a common desire to extend their collaboration. Will is joining the latest newcomer Rene Binder in the Ligier JS P217 # 23. The third driver of the line-up will be announced in due course.

ANOTHER ELMS PODIUM FOR PANIS-BARTHEZ COMPETITION

From its arrival on Wednesday at the circuit of Portimao, a day dedicated to private testing, the French team is at the forefront by finishing 2 of the 3 sessions at the top of the rankings. The two free practice sessions on Friday and Saturday were dedicated to tweaking the settings for the qualifications. The job was rewarded with the second place of Will Stevens only 60 thousandths behind the pole man.
