Successful GT racer Jordan Witt is making a very welcome return to the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS Endurance Cup this season, after today confirming an exciting deal with Leipert Motorsport – reuniting the Nantwich driver with Lamborghini Huracan GT3 power for 2022.

Vibe Audio and Yelir World backed racer Witt, a former Silver Cup winner of the TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa at the wheel of a Lamborghini, joins the German team for the five-round Endurance Cup which gets underway with the opening three-hour race on Sunday, 3rd April, at Imola in Italy.

Before then, Witt will embark on his maiden test in the Leipert Lamborghini Huracan – which has the support of Lamborghini Squadra Corse – this coming Tuesday, 15th March, before then preparing for the season-opener, his first outing in GTWCE since the 2019 championship finale.

Silver graded driver Witt will team-up with experienced Kiwi driver Brendon Leitch and young German racer Dennis Fetzer for Leipert’s first season back in GTWCE Endurance Cup in 10 years. For the TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa in July, the trio will be joined by Dutchman Max Weering.

Last year, of course, Witt raced a Lamborghini in the new Fanatec GT2 European Series with Toro Verde GT before the popular Cheshire sportsman made a mid-season switch with the squad to the one-make Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe.

He concluded the 2021 season with a one-off outing in the finale of the Intelligent Money British GT Championship at Donington Park Grand Prix Circuit, taking a Silver-Am class podium with Tolman Motorsport at the wheel of a Bentley Continental GT3.

Already this year, Witt competed in the annual twice-round-the-clock Hankook Dubai 24H back in January with BMW M4 GT3 squad Schubert Motorsport. Now, he is relishing the opportunity to be back in the globe’s biggest and best GT3 endurance racing championship with Leipert.

“It’s mega news to be coming back to GT World Challenge Europe, we’ve got unfinished business there and any GT3 driver will tell you it’s the place to be”, said a delighted Witt, “I want to say a huge thank you to Marc Poos and Marcel Leipert for the opportunity to join the team for the 2022 season and I’m confident it’ll be a strong year for us.

“Being back in a GT3 Lamborghini really is an exciting prospect, it’s an amazing car and I’ve always gone well in the Huracan – winning the Silver Cup at the Spa 24 Hours in 2019 obviously being the highlight so far.”

He added: “I’m looking forward to my first run in Leipert’s car next week, and teaming with Brendon and Dennis this year. Hopefully we can prepare as strongly as possible and go into the first round at Imola in the best possible shape.”

With wide-ranging experience in GT endurance competition, Witt has also enjoyed notable success over the years. Winning the GTC Class title in British GT back in 2011 driving a Chevron, five years later he won the GT Cup Championship in dominant style with Bentley – taking 19 race victories.

Racing in Europe for the first time in 2017, again with a Bentley Continental, he competed in the International GT Open and took three wins. In 2018, Witt’s first experience of GTWCE [then known as the Blancpain GT Series] came with Nissan squad GT Sport Motul Team RJN and he took a maiden podium finish.

Joining Barwell Motorsport for 2019, his first season racing with Lamborghini, the Briton took a superb Silver Cup class win in the 24 hour race at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium and he also became a podium finisher in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo.

Set to continue in GTWCE in 2020, the global COVID-19 pandemic led to a change of plans and he instead returned to the British GT Championship. Piloting a McLaren 720S GT3, Witt put together a terrific campaign to finish fourth in the Silver Cup standings with two class wins. Witt and then team-mate Jack Mitchell also secured one impressive outright victory and another overall podium.
