WeatherTech Racing drivers Cooper MacNeil (Hinsdale, Ill.) and Toni Vilander (Kankaanpää, Finland) will start the IMSA WeatherTech Championship race at Road America from the third row in GTD.

MacNeil had the wheel of the No. 63 WeatherTech Racing Ferrari 488 Evo for the 15-minute qualifying session around the 4-mile, 14-turn Road America circuit located in central Wisconsin. Posting a lap time of 2:07.924 it will have him starting from the third row in sixth.

“My fast lap was everything I had,” MacNeil said. “I was drifting coming out of the Carousel and it was a pretty good lap. The car hasn’t been quite everything we wanted so far this weekend, but the Scuderia Corsa guys have been working tirelessly going through about 15 different set-up changes during the two practices sessions to get us closer. The WeatherTech Ferrari was the best it has been in qualifying, so hats off to the team. We are going in the right direction. We have a few more ideas for tomorrow, but nothing that will get us to the Lexus cars, they are just too fast. Tomorrow we are looking for a good top five run, a podium would be a gift.”
