WeatherTech Racing drivers Cooper MacNeil (Hinsdale, Ill.), Toni Vilander (Kankaanpää, Finland), and Rob Smith (Essex, UK) crossed the finish line in fourth at the 24 Hours of Le Mans today.

The drivers, crew and entire team had the No. 62 WeatherTech Racing Ferrari running strong throughout the race. The ultra-competitive LMGTEAM class demands speed and a perfect race to finish on top. The drivers didn’t put a wheel wrong and the Scuderia Corsa led crew had strong pit stops. In the end the team had some bad luck in the first two thirds of the race with yellow flags coming out when they had to pit for fuel. This required two stops instead of one costing the team track position.

“Unfortunately, another top five here at Le Mans and not a podium,” MacNeil said. “Just one spot out in P4. Big thanks to the Scuderia Corsa crew and Ferrari for giving us a great car all week. Also, a big thanks to Michelin tires, they were great with no issues all week. The car ran flawlessly. Ferrari built us a brand-new race car and it ran great all race. Congratulations to our friends Jeff Segal and Ben Keating for their win and podium. Now it is back to IMSA and onto Watkins Glen.”

“We had a good run in the WeatherTech Racing Ferrari,” Vilander said. “We got unlucky early with some safety cars and yellow flags that caused us to make too many pit stops costing us track position. The team did a great job with the preparation of the car and the pit stops. We had no real concerns all week.”

“What a great result fourth,” Smith said. “Toni did an amazing job the last two hours. Fourth is good, I think a couple of the safety cars really hurt us in the end. The team did a great job with the car and the pit stops. We had no issues all week.”

The team will rejoin the IMSA WeatherTech Championship at Watkins Glen with the running of the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen, June 27-30.
