The last and decisive round of the International GT Open started today at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya with free practice, after private test on the wet on Thursday. Dry weather was back today, in a double one-hour session which ended with no less than 18 cars within a second in the combined rankings!

Fastest time was for the Lechner Mercedes of Thomas Jäger-Mario Plachutta, which posted a time of 1.45.395, beating by only 0.097 seconds the Senkyr BMW of Jensen-Gonda. Another Pro-Am car, the SPS Mercedes of Onslow Cole-Pierburg, bidding for the Pro-Am title as third, ahead of the Imperiale Lambo of Venturini-Mul.

The latter were the faster among overall title contenders, with the Luzich Ferrari of Mac-Pier Guidi and the Teo Martín BMW of Rueda-Saravia taking P18 and P19 respectively and focusing on set-up work. In Am, the fastest car was the other BMW of Basso-Salas ahead of a new entry, the Winward Mercedes of Ward-Dontje.

Session 1 was topped by two new entries (Lucas Auer on one of the Drivex Mercedes and Phil Keen on the Ombra Lambo, ahead of the Olimp Audi of Lisowski. There were a number of red flags during the day for contacts with barriers and off-tracks, with no major consequences for the cars. Final entry is 30, the largest of the season, with two last-minute withdrawals: the MS Racing Mercedes of Hrachowina-Konrad and the ARC Bratislava Lambo of Miro Konôpka, who has undergone shoulder surgery.
