THAI TEAM TRUE VISIONS CONFIRMS FULL SEASON GT WORLD CHALLENGE ASIA GTC ENTRY FOR BUNCHAROEN

True Visions Motorsports Thailand have become the first team to confirm a GTC entry for 2022’s Fanatec GT World Challenge Asia Powered by AWS campaign.

The outfit’s long-time Am driver Suttiluck Buncharoen will race a Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo solo at all six rounds, starting with Sepang on May 20-22.

TrueVisions, a cable and satellite television operator in Thailand, previously entered Asia’s Porsche Carrera Cup and Lamborghini Super Trofeo series with Buncharoen, who was the latter’s Am class runner-up in 2018. The same combination has also made several China GT and Thai Super Series outings together.

However, Sepang marks the team and driver’s GT World Challenge Asia debut, as well as their first outing in any series since 2019.

“I am super excited to be racing again and to be making my GT World Challenge Asia debut with the Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo,” said Buncharoen. “The calendar’s mix of Sepang, four events in Japan and breath-taking new Mandalika circuit at the end of the season convinced me to join. With Asia’s borders opening up it’s time for some racing and fun – I can’t wait to get started in May.”

Championship organisers are eager to see more GTC-eligible cars, such as the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup and Ferrari 488 Challenge, join the likes of Lamborghini’s Huracan Super Trofeo this year. Each of GT World Challenge Asia’s previous three seasons (2017-19) only featured GT3 and GT4 classes.

“Racing across the Asian continent has been severely limited over the last two years so we’re eager to create an environment that welcomes a broader range of cars,” said series co-director Benjamin Franassovici. “GTC sits perfectly between GT3 and GT4, while the strength of Porsche, Ferrari and Lamborghini’s regional one-make series means there are plenty of cars eligible to share the class.

“We’re not racing in Thailand this year so it speaks volumes that True Visions and Suttiluck feel sufficiently reassured about restrictions lifting to lodge their full-season entry. Hopefully a few more Thai teams will follow suit and join us at Sepang.”
