TeamTGM returns to race action this weekend at the legendary Watkins Glen International for the four-hour Continental Tire 240 at The Glen. The race is Round 4 of the 2018 IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge season.

The two car Mercedes-AMG GT4 lineup is looking forward to taking on the iconic 3.4-mile track in rural New York, the next stopping point on the 2018 calendar.

The team’s two Mercedes-AMG GT4s will see the return of Ted Giovanis and Guy Cosmo in the No. 4 Jayne Koskinas Ted Giovanis (JKTG) Foundation / Camp Boggy Creek Mercedes-AMG GT4 and Hugh Plumb and Owen Trinkler in the No. 46 JKTG Foundation / Camp Boggy Creek Mercedes-AMG GT4.

As a proud partner of the team, the JKTG Foundation will once again be on the side of both TeamTGM Mercedes-AMG entries as the foundation continues its work to fund cancer research. Last month the JKTG Foundation awarded the Wistar Institute a $840,000 research grant to further the multidisciplinary research of two Wistar scientists. The JKTG Foundation aims to use collaborative science over traditional thinking to help eradicate cancer and hope for a cancer-free future.

Just as the foundation has been pushing forward, TeamTGM hasn’t slowed down during the nearly two month break following the hard-fought battle at Mid-Ohio where the Trinkler and Plumb pairing scored a top five finish. Utilizing multiple test days, including an early June test at Watkins Glen, TeamTGM has new data and information on the two sleek Mercedes-AMG GT4 machines to keep the progress rolling into the 11-turn natural terrain track.

The combination of Cosmo and Giovanis in the No. 4 JKTG Foundation rocket brings years of experience and knowledge to The Glen. Cosmo, who has had multiple trips to the podium in IMSA Prototype competition is now looking to stand there once again with his teammate. The pair scored a thrilling top five result last year, moving up the field from 12th during the four hour event.

“Watkins Glen is going to be really good for us,” stated Cosmo. “Ted (Giovanis) does very well at that track, he’s driven there multiple times and loves it. Just having the confidence and motivation is going to help him perform well. I feel the same way since I have driven there many times and love it. It’s going to be a place that suits this car well. Long races are good because anything can happen in four hours.”

Both TeamTGM entries have excelled during long race format events during the 2018 season with three top ten finishes. The No. 46 team of Trinkler and Plumb hope to carry the momentum from their top-five finish at Mid-Ohio to the podium at The Glen. The duo currently sit fourth in the IMSA championship points standings and will look to close the gap this weekend.

“We continue to show that we race well,” said Plumb. “If we can keep learning about how to get everything we can out of the AMG and being able to convert rolling speed into the long straightaways, we should be competitive at the Glen. Long race runs are what help us the most, and Owen (Trinkler) does a great job so we will continue to keep pushing ahead in this championship.”

The Continental Tire 240 at The Glen will go green on Saturday June 30th at 1:55 p.m.
