Following a promising race weekend at Watkins Glen, TeamTGM will head north of the border for the second straight weekend of IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge competition at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) on Saturday (IMSA.tv at 1:45pm ET).

The TeamTGM pair of the jktgfoundation.org / Camp Boggy Creek Mercedes-AMG GT4s will switch gears from endurance to sprint racing for the 120-minute Canadian Tire Motorsport Park 120 on the free-flowing, high speed course. The team which supports the JKTG cancer research Foundation as well as Camp Boggy Creek, is aiming to turn around it’s trying 2019 season.

The No. 4 driver pairing of Ted Giovanis and Guy Cosmo bring a close dynamic behind the wheel of the iridescent beast to the fast circuit set in a rural area east of Toronto.

The team had strong pace with both entries at Watkins Glen, with Cosmo and Giovanis racing to the front of the field with the No. 4 jktgfoundation.org entry before a pit lane procedure penalty cost them a drive through, eliminating the chance of a podium finish.

With a combination of nine race starts including a podium appearance for Cosmo will show to be vital in working to the top of the running order this weekend.

“At Watkins Glen we had results that were below the true performance of both cars,” said Giovanis. “Because of that we are very positive about our chances to podium at CTMP. The track is fast which suits the AMG well and we believe both cars will be fast there.”

“I am so ready to race again,” said Cosmo. “We had a very strong race going last week until that ended with a disappointing result. After what has to have been the slowest start to a racing season with nearly two full months between each of the first three races I’m sure I speak for all of us at TGM when I say we’re ready to get the momentum going and get into the swing of the season. CTMP is a track I’ve always loved racing and have had much success at in the past. This team is so strong and our Mercedes-AMG has been on point lately, so we’re coming in with confidence and high hopes for a great weekend.”

Owen Trinkler and Hugh Plumb gear up for the second consecutive race weekend in the striking No. 46 Mercedes-AMG GT4. Trinkler and Plumb will aim to score the first win of the season for TeamTGM. Trinkler scored a CTMP victory in 2016 as well as a second visit to the podium in 2017.

The return to the 2.459-mile course follows a thrilling run in the 2018 edition of the event. Excellent race strategy and work by the TeamTGM pit crew created an opportunity for the top-ten finish. The 2019 outing will be the playground for the skilled driver duo of Trinkler and Plumb to fight through the field.

“How quickly things can change in racing,” said Plumb. “2018 champions to not having been in the car since Sebring. But as expected our TGM team has not lost any tempo, confidence or composure; that’s why they are champions! We will rebound in a big way. CTMP is a great track and I have a lot of success there. We will look to get this monkey off our backs and get back to winning races.”

“I can’t wait to get back to the track with our team and especially a place like CTMP where we have had success in the past,” said Trinkler. “We will continue to push and believe in each other at Team TGM Strong!”

The Canadian Tire Motorsport Park 120 will take the green flag for two-hours of high intensity racing on Saturday, July 6th
