As the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge officially hits the midway point of the 2018 season, TeamTGM will continue to focus on making a run for the championship as the series stages Round 6 at Lime Rock Park for the Lime Rock Park 120 this Saturday.

With lap times clocking in at just under a minute at the short 1.5-mile Lime Rock Park circuit, the showdown at the Connecticut track is likely to be action packed for the two-hour sprint event on Saturday.

The team is prepared for the Lime Rock Park event and will hope for some relief from the balance of performance regulations that were in place for the previous rounds which saw TeamTGM’s two car Mercedes-AMG GT4 line up struggle for pace.

Sitting fourth in the championship, Owen Trinkler and Hugh Plumb (No. 46 Jayne Koskinas Ted Giovanis (JKTG) Foundation / Camp Boggy Creek Mercedes-AMG) will be aiming to close the gap as they sit just two points behind third.

With a history that stretches back to 1957, Lime Rock Park is a staple of the North American road racing scene.

“I love Lime Rock,” said Trinkler. “It’s another old school track that’s fast. I think we will be good there and I think we will run a quick lap. We can be competitive and we will just play the game again. We just can’t risk having a DNF right now. We will just work and not get stuck like we did at Mosport.”

With several race starts at Lime Rock Park and also having posted the fastest GS race lap in 2015, Plumb is ready to give TeamTGM its first podium of the season.

“Lime Rock will be interesting,” said Plumb. “There will be a lot of cars on a short circuit and we will expect more of the same that we saw at Mosport. We have to keep fighting our battle and will have our acts together and get a good finish.”

Sharing driving duties of the No. 4 JKTG Foundation / Camp Boggy Creek Mercedes-AMG GT4, Guy Cosmo and Ted Giovanis, are aiming to continue their forward progress this weekend through smart strategy.

“I am looking forward to going back to Lime Rock and hopefully our Mercedes will take well to the track,” said Giovanis. “It’s a short and fast track so it’s easy to go a lap down so we will have to plan strategy for the No. 4.”

Heading back to one of his home tracks, Cosmo is eager to compete behind the wheel of a GT car with his last outing being behind the wheel of a P2 car where he scored his best finish to date of second.

“I grew up racing at Lime Rock so I’m excited to get back to my home track,” said Cosmo. “It’ll be nice to have a lot of friends and family there. It’ll be challenging since it’s always hot and the lap is really short. If you have a deficit then it’ll really multiply quickly. We are still making gains with these Mercedes and looking forward to another opportunity to get some more points.”

The IMSA Lime Rock 120 race weekend will see a condensed schedule for the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge with practice and qualifying set for Friday followed by the Lime Rock Park 120 on Saturday, July 21st at 11:00 a.m. ET.
