Team Redline Racing returned to the summit of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB mountain at Brands Hatch this past weekend as Dan Cammish was crowned overall drivers’ champion for the third time with the team.

On what proved to be a dramatic final event of the season around the Grand Prix layout of the Kent venue, Cammish wrote his name into the history books whilst Pro Am talents Jake Rattenbury, Micah Stanley and Josh Caygill enjoyed strong performances to round out the year.

Cammish began his final pursuit of the title with a strong performance in qualifying on Saturday as he posted the fourth fastest time overall. Race one on Sunday proved to be one of attrition as the Yorkshireman found himself embroiled in a four-car battle for the lead.

After dicing for position throughout the 17-lap encounter, Cammish crossed the line in fourth, however this later became third after post-race penalties were applied.

Heading into the final race of the season holding a three-point advantage, Cammish sealed the crown with a superlative drive. Despite dropping to third on the opening lap, the 2015 and 2016 champion shadowed the top two to become the first ever three-time Carrera Cup GB winner.

In Pro Am qualifying, despite having his fastest time removed due to exceeding track limits, Rattenbury bounced back to set the fourth fastest time in class whilst Stanley and Caygill were fifth and sixth respectively.

Race one saw Stanley and Rattenbury in the thick of the action amidst the Pro Am ranks, finishing fourth and fifth respectively. Unfortunately, an accident at Paddock Hill Bend in the latter stages saw Caygill retire.

Podium celebrations spilled into the Pro Am category in race two as Rattenbury produced a charging drive to clinch his seventh podium finish of the season. Hot on his heels were both Stanley and Caygill as they took the chequered flag line astern in fourth and fifth.

Simon Leonard – Managing Director: “What a fantastic way to end the season! It has been a few years since we wrapped up the Drivers’ Championship so it is brilliant to be back on top again. We’re over the moon with how everything has played out.

“When the opportunity to re-sign Dan [Cammish] became available we worked hard to make it happen and as he has demonstrated, he is world class. His performances throughout the season have been exemplary and he fully deserves to be a three-time champion.

“Jake [Rattenbury], Josh [Caygill] and Micah [Stanley] have all driven brilliantly over the course of the season as well and we’ve enjoyed working with them throughout the year.”

Dan Cammish – 2021 Porsche Carrera Cup GB Champion: “It’s been an amazing season! We haven’t always had the fastest car but we’ve had the consistency and that is ultimately the backbone of any championship. To come away with 12 podiums from 16 races is fantastic.

“Coming back into the series it felt like my reputation was on the line a little bit because I was a double champion, so to now stand here with a third championship is fantastic, I’m over the moon. This one means a lot.

“To also do it with Redline is very special. I’ve owe Simon a lot because he has not only had a massive impact on my racing career but he also gave me a lifeline after things fell through in touring cars. Everyone at the team is fantastic and they deserve to be champions too.”
