Next weekend, it will take place in the majestic Spa-Francorchamps the third International GT Open’s round, a circuit that Henrique Chaves knows and where he intends to proceed with good results.

The Portuguese youngster debuts in the GT World this season, but that didn’t prevent him from being one of the season’s main contenders, fighting consistently for the podium places, which allows him to be in the third position of the Drivers Standings, eleven points behind the leaders – there are thirty points on the table each weekend.

The monumental circuit of Spa-Francorchamps will stage the third International GT Open event of the 2019 season, which with its 7,004 and nineteen turns it is one of the most demanding in the world. To put even more pressure on teams and drivers, the weather is extremely inconsistent and it is certain that during an event the rain will make is presence felt.

The demandes from the Belgian circuit are not unknow from Henrique Chaves, who already visited the track seven times – one with the European Le Mans Series, three with the Formula Renault Eurocup and three with the Formula Renault 2.0 NEC – scoring a fifth place as best result. “I believe that there isn’t a single racing driver who doesn’t like Spa-Francorchamps and I’m not exception. Its fast corners are exciting, as the uphills and downhills. Of course, the Eau Rouge-Radillon complex it’s the circuit highlight. The weather is extremely important, as it is usual to be sunny in one point of the track and raining in another, adding even more challenges. I’m looking forward to get in the track at the McLaren 720S GT3’s wheel to feel the sensations around the circuit”, said the Portuguese driver.

Spa-Francorchamps is a demanding circuit, but Henrique Chaves will have, also, to fight a strong field, as it was possible to see in the first season’s rounds – Paul Ricard and Hockenheim. However, the Portuguese driver is decided to keep the good results. “We are optimistic for this round. At Germany we knew we would have some difficulties and we didn’t climb the podium, which leave us without pit-stop handicap, but we got some good results. We are confident that the McLaren 720S GT3 will be competitive at Spa-Francorchamps and we – me, Martin and Teo Martín Motorsport – will work hard to achieve the car’s potential and fight for results in the top-3”, underlined the Portuguese driver.

The official program of the Spa-Francorchamps’ round of the International GT Open will kick-off Friday, with the practice sessions. Saturday will be held a qualifying session and a race, 15h45 (GMT+1). Sunday will mirror the day before, but the race will be held at 14h05 (GMT+1). The first race will have a seventy minutes duration and the second sixty and both can be followed live at the series [youtube.com/user/GTOPENseries]website.
