A highly successful weekend at the French track saw Sky Tempesta Racing secure first and second places in the Pro-Am Cup in both races, elevating the team to the top of both the GT World Challenge Pro-Am Teams and Drivers’ Championships..

The pairing of Jonathan Hui and Giancarlo Fisichella triumphed twice at Magny Cours on 12-13 September 2020, winning both sprint races, whilst Chris Froggatt and Eddie Cheever were close behind them, achieving second place in both events.

This weekend’s success comes soon after an equally strong result in the Pro-Am at Misano on 9 August. The three race event last month saw Froggatt and Cheever take two impressive victories and a second place.

Sky Tempesta Racing’s domination at Magny Cours and Misano places them at the top of the GT World Challenge Pro-Am Teams’ Championship with 101 points, whilst their nearest competitor sits on 81. The team are also controlling the Pro-Am Drivers’ Championship, with Froggatt and Cheever topping the table on an equal 91 points.

This success places Sky Tempesta Racing in a strong position heading into future challenges, including the much-anticipated Total 24 Hours of Spa race on 25 October.

Giancarlo Fisichella: “It was a fantastic weekend for me and Sky Tempesta in Magny Cours. We scored a double victory and double 1-2 with both cars, so it’s been an amazing job by the whole team.”

Jonathan Hui: “This was a near perfect weekend for us at Magny Cours. It’s the first time for the team to run two cars in the Sprint Cup Pro Am category and Sky Tempesta topped every single session from Free Practice through to both races, scoring maximum points. It was also a great opportunity to bring together the driver line up for the upcoming Total 24 Hours of Spa and work as a team over a race weekend. All in all, we feel confident that the ingredients are there for a strong showing at the most important race of the championship.”

Eddie Cheever: “What a fantastic weekend for the team; achieving a 1-2 in both races, getting in the perfect preparation for the biggest race of the year – the Spa 24h – and extending our championship lead. Our next stop will be Zandvoort and we’ll be giving it our all as always.”
