Team Cetilar Racing celebrated the best qualifying performance to date in the FIA WEC, as Giorgio Sernagiotto and Andrea Belicchi set the average sixth time of the LMP2 category in the 4 Hours of Shanghai qualifying, early this morning.

The Italian drivers, who share the #47 Dallara car with Roberto Lacorte, produced a great performance by lapping in 1:50.496. Having already raced at the Chinese track, Belicchi secured the best of two laps in 1:50.470, with Sernagiotto – who makes his second appearance at the Shanghai circuit, only 54 milleseconds slower.

That put the Cetilar Racing powered by AF Corse prototype on third row for tomorrow’s race that will start at 12 local time, 5 am CET.

Giorgio Sernagiotto. “We are absolutely glad to make the best of the car’s potential. We know our gap from Orecas, but we probably have worked better than some other team”.

Andrea Belicchi. “We improved a lot since the free practice. We are very happy of the team’s effort. Me and Giorgio mixed a good combination of the best laps. Moreover we proved some of the problem at Fuji were due to tires. Now we’ll continue to take the best of our Dallara as we did at Silverstone.”

Roberto Lacorte. “I am extremely satisfied for the huge team’s job. Andrea and Giorgio took the best of the Dallara. The team made significant progress on the development of our car. The sixth time is a well-deserved result for us.”
