RATCLIFFE RETURNS TO DEFEND PORSCHE CARRERA CUP GB TITLE IN 2022

Team Parker Racing is very happy to announce that Ryan Ratcliffe will return to the team in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB for the 2022 season, ready to defend his Pro-Am championship title.

Ryan first joined the team in 2018, competing for two seasons in the British GT Championship before making a switch to the Carrera Cup in 2020. Despite being his first year and having to get to grips with the intricacies of the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (991.2) used in the series, he was in the mix for the Pro-Am title, pushing team-mate Esmee Hawkey all the way to the final weekend of the season.

Coming back this year with a renewed focus, Ryan was almost ever-present in the podium positions, finishing just two of the 16 contests outside of the top three en route to a well-earned Pro-Am championship title.

For 2022 the series will move to the new 992-style 911 GT3 Cup, which has been used in the Porsche Supercup this season, where the team competed under the Parker Revs Motorsport banner, meaning it already has a solid knowledge base to build off ahead of its introduction into the British series.

The team will head to Portimão, in Portugal, in early December for several days of testing across all its racing programmes, where Ryan will be able to properly familiarise himself with the machine ahead of next season.

He will also be showing off a brand-new livery for the new campaign, which will be revealed at an exclusive launch event at Porsche Centre Swindon, one of his partners, in the early part of next year.

Ryan Ratcliffe

“I’ve enjoyed the Carrera Cup more than any other championship that I’ve ever done. It’s going to be quite exciting next year with a new car and from what we’ve heard, I think there will be a pretty big grid as well, so the racing should be really close.

“The championship seems to attract drivers that want to improve themselves against some already quite high calibre drivers. It is renowned as a proving ground and a place to go to build your skills to develop as a driver – even the level of the Am drivers is really, really high.

“I literally have only completed around four laps in the 992, at the taster day, but I didn’t really want to delve too much into it, because I knew I had the championship to fight for. That’s what I wanted to concentrate on rather than get excited with the 992, so the upcoming test at Portimão will be my first real go in the car.”

“I think Team Parker Racing have proved themselves over the last the last couple of years that they’re the team to be with. They’ve won so many championships recently that I definitely wouldn’t go anywhere. Stuart makes sure the there is a real family feeling in the team and I fit right in. A big part of why I enjoy my racing is being part of that team.”
