PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports is headed to the 2020 IMSA SportsCar Weekend at Road America with their LMP2 entry in the IMSA Weathertech Sportscar Championship this weekend.

Patrick Kelly will be joined by Simon Trummer to pilot the #52 PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports Oreca 07-Gibson LMP2. Kelly is coming off of a dominant drive at the Cadillac GP of Sebring which resulted in PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports’ first win of the IMSA Weathertech Sportscar Championship season. Trummer reunites with PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports after travel restrictions limited the driver from participating in the Cadillac GP of Sebring. The 31-year-old Switzerland native helped PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports lock-in a first place finish in round one of the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup at Daytona.

Simon Trummer – Driver of the #52 PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports Oreca 07-Gibson LMP2

“Road America to me is the best place to drive the #52 PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports Oreca 07-Gibson LMP2. It’s such an incredible racetrack. I enjoy driving every lap. I also have great memories in Road America. Last year, I was the fastest Cadillac in Qualifying and two years ago I scored the pole position. I’m looking forward to working with the whole PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports crew again and making this weekend a success.”

“I love visiting Elkhart Lake. Beyond the track it’s just a wonderful area. I am so excited!”

Bobby Oergel – Team Principal

“As most racers do, I really enjoy the Road America events. PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports has had good success here over the years and we are pushing hard to continue that this weekend. It will be great to have Simon Trummer back with us along with Patrick Kelly for the first time together. Patrick Kelly and the PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports crew did a great job at Sebring, we are really looking forward to adding Simon Trummer to the program and getting on track.”

Ray Mathiasen – Team Principal

“Leslie and I want to welcome Simon back to join Patrick Kelly this weekend at Road America. We’re confident that our team’s performance at the last race in Sebring will carry forward this weekend. We once again are unable to attend the race in person due to COVID-19 risks but we will be watching on TV. It will be the first time since we’ve missed a race there dating back to our early days in the Atlantic series. We wish the team great success at one of our favorite road courses, Road America.”
