Porsche will be represented by a trio of GT3 cars in the penultimate round of the inaugural GT Super Sprint Challenge (GTSSC) season as the series travels to the Zhuhai International Circuit this weekend.

Completed in 1996 and situated on China’s south coast, the venue was the first permanent motor racing facility in the country. The 4.319-kilometre track contains 14 turns and challenges drivers with its high-speed corners.

Li Chao returns to the series following his appearance at the Shanghai International Circuit in September. The multiple China GT race winner will compete in the #910 Absolute Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R that he drove to three GT World Challenge Asia podiums alongside triple Porsche Carrera Cup Asia (PCCA) champion Chris van der Drift.

Zhou Bihuang is set to make his GTSSC race debut in Zhuhai, after appearing in practice and qualifying in Zhuzhou, where he finished third fastest. The two-time 2021 PCCA Pro-Am race winner will compete in the #68 911 GT3 R for Team 777 by ClimaxRacing. Xiao Min completes the Porsche entries, competing for YC Racing in the previous generation #51 machine in the Masters category.

Li Chao, #910 Porsche 911 GT3 R: “The Zhuhai International Circuit is like a home track to me, I began my racing journey there in single-seaters so I have a strong connection with the place. I enjoy the venue and the challenges it presents and have had some great races there. The weather for this weekend looks very unpredictable, but I will give everything to get a positive result.”

Zhou Bihuang, #68 Porsche 911 GT3 R: “This weekend will be the first time I drive the Porsche 911 GT3 R in Zhuhai. We collected plenty of data in Zhuzhou and I began to feel more confident with the car. It’s set to rain this weekend, so that could make things tricky, but I’m still excited to get on track and perform well.”

Alexandre Gibot, Managing Director Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific Ltd.: “The inaugural season of GTSSC has been brilliant so far, with healthy grids and great racing. It’s amazing to see Porsche represented by three cars in the GT3 class and I’m delighted that Team 777 by ClimaxRacing are continuing with the Porsche 911 GT3 R after debuting the car last time out. It’s going to be exciting to see the series on a new track in Zhuhai and I hope that the competition is as close and fierce as ever.”
