DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Action Express Racing’s No. 5 Mustang Sampling Cadillac DPi is back in control of the Rolex 24 after 16 hours.

The No. 5, shared by Joao Barbosa, Christian Fittipaldi and Filipe Albuquerque, was back in command after giving up the race lead in the overnight hours to one of the Team Penske Acura entries.

The No. 7 Acura shared by Helio Castroneves, Ricky Taylor and Graham Rahal looked like the team to challenge Action Express for the overall victory, but 20 minutes before the end of the 16th hour the No. 7 hit pit road and then the garage for body damage repairs, effectively ending any shot the team had at victory.

The moved the second Action Express entry shared by Mike Conway, Felipe Nasr, Eric Curran and Stuart Middleton into second overall, albeit a full lap behind the leading No. 5 entry.

The No. 32 United Autosports Ligier shared by Will Owen, Hugo de Sadeleer and Paul di Resta sits third overall.

After suffering multiple tire issues through the night, the defending champion No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac DPi retired from the race just past the 16 hour mark.

In GT Le Mans, Richard Westbrook has put the No. 67 Ford GT sits atop the scoring pylon ahead of the second Ford GT currently piloted by Sebastien Bourdais. The Ford entries have been in a league of their own and they are currently the only GT Le Mans cars in contention for victory, with all the other cars in the class at least a lap behind them.

The GT Daytona class battle has the No. 48 Paul Miller Racing Lamborghini Huracan at the front of the field with Andrea Caldarelli currently at the wheel. The No. 33 Riley Mercedes AMG GT3 sits second in the class, followed by the No. 86 Michael Shank Racing Acura NSX.
