Fresh off of their win on the streets of Long Beach, Paul Miller Racing heads to VIRginia International Raceway for the final Sprint Cup race of the 2021 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

Drivers of the No. 1 Total lubricants-backed machine, Madison Snow and Bryan Sellers, previously won from pole at VIR in 2016 for Paul Miller racing, and it is also the site of the team’s return to competition in 2020, using the fan-favorite track as a tune-up before the final three endurance races of the season.

The two-hour, 40-minute, GT-only sprint race at VIR marks the end of the Sprint Cup championship for the GTD class within the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Paul Miller Racing currently sits second in that race, 74 points back.

The Paul Miller Racing team also sits second in the overall championship with just VIR and Petit Le Mans in November left to run. The victory in Long Beach last month propelled Snow and Sellers from fourth to just 32 points out of the lead.

“The two races in California put us into a really good place heading into this weekend at VIR,” Paul Miller Racing founder, Paul Miller, said.

“That being said, finishing off this championship isn’t going to be easy. We had a strong car here in 2020, but being good at VIR one year doesn’t guarantee you will be fast the next year.

“The level of competition in the IMSA GTD class is so high right now, as well, that it’s going to take not just a good race, but a great one, to ensure we finish ahead of our rivals.”

Madison Snow

“I love the GT-only race at VIR. The track is wonderful, and so is the facility. It’s a challenging track, though our team has done well here before. Hopefully, we can carry our momentum from Laguna Seca and Long Beach and get a good result to wrap up the Sprint championship.”

Bryan Sellers

“VIR is a great venue, one that certainly deserves as much credit and admiration as possible. It’s a great track and facility that’s surrounded by loyal and knowledgeable fans. This is always a grueling race and certainly one that you have to bring your A-game to. We had a pretty strong race car at this event last year, and I hope that will carry on into this weekend.”
