Teenager Tom Gamble is set for another first in the Blancpain GT World Challenge Europe this weekend (July 12-14) as he makes his debut at Zandvoort in the Netherlands.

After a Silver Cup podium finish at Misano in Italy last time out, the Franklin & Sons-backed driver is ready for a fresh challenge on the 2.6-mile circuit, located on the Dutch coastline, surrounded by sand dunes.

“I’ve been working on the simulator at Base Performance thanks to the support of the BRDC SuperStars,” said Tom. “It has been helpful to be able to use it to learn the circuits I don’t know ahead of the race weekends.”

After a fragmented start to the calendar, where there was an eight-week gap between the opening rounds at Brands Hatch in the UK and Misano, Tom is looking forward to climbing behind the wheel of his W Racing Team Audi R8 LMS GT3.

“I’m happy to be getting back on track,” he said. “There was such a long gap after Brands I almost forgot how to drive the car! It looks like a good circuit; it reminds me a bit of Oulton Park as it sweeps up and down and is tight, so I think qualifying will be key.”

The first of two official practice sessions will take place at 09:00 CEST (08:00 BST) on Friday, July 12th, with the second that afternoon at 13:40 (12:40). Qualifying is set for 09:30 (08:30) on Saturday morning, with the first one-hour race at 14:25 (13:35). The second contest is on Sunday, July 14th, at 14:15 (13:15).

There will be timing available all weekend on the official Blancpain GT Series website, with live coverage also available for qualifying and both races here as well as on SRO’s YouTube channel GTWorld, which can be found here.

About Tom Gamble

17-year old Nottingham native Tom Gamble is the current McLaren Autosport BRDC Award winner, having claimed the prestigious title in January after impressing judges during a two-day test and assessment session at Silverstone in October.

This is just his fourth year of car racing, having won the Ginetta Junior Championship in the United Kingdom in 2017 and taken two victories in the BRDC British Formula 3 Championship last year. This season he will compete in Blancpain GT World Challenge Europe with the W Racing Team.
