Meyer Shank Racing drivers Trent Hindman and Mario Farnbacher have extended their GTD championship lead after a podium finish at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. The pair now head to the shortest track on the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship schedule for the Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park.

The momentum has been rolling for the No. 86 Acura NSX GT3 this season after Hindman and Farnbacher scored a big win during the Sahlen’s Six Hours of Watkins Glen. The pair then followed that up with a second place finish the following weekend at CTMP to increase their championship advantage to 19-points.

The Northeast Grand Prix is the shortest track on the schedule with Lime Rock Park totaling only 1.5-miles long. MSR has competed at Lime Rock since 2010 in both Prototype and GTD competition with two podium finishes (2010 & 2011).

Hindman will be aiming to score his third pole position of the season and the chances are high as he already has three pole positions under his belt at Lime Rock in IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge competition.

“They say your home track is the one you have the best result at, so I’ve been calling Watkins Glen home for the last few weeks,” said Hindman. “Lime Rock is our version of a ‘short track’ and with the average lap speed being well over 100mph, the racing tends to be up close and personal, which I love. With the new NSX GT3 Evo package and the Meyer Shank Racing team’s hard work to extract the most out of it we should have a strong run. We have plenty of confidence in achieving a strong result this weekend.”

Farnbacher has had two top five finishes in the three years that he has competed at Lime Rock.

“We are heading to Lime Rock with the championship lead and our goal is to still lead the championship after the weekend,” said Farnbacher. “Hopefully we can score some more valuable points this weekend to keep the momentum going.”
