WeatherTech Racing drivers Cooper MacNeil (Hinsdale, Ill.) and Toni Vilander (Kankaanpää, Finland) are ready for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Acura Sports Car Challenge at Mid-Ohio May 3-5.

Coming off of a third-place finish at Sebring in March the team is anxious to get back to racing at the 2.25-mile, 13-turn road course best known for its Keyhole and Carousel turns. MacNeil and Vilander turned their season around after a tough Rolex 24 run and scored solid points at Sebring. The duo will be looking to take the Scuderia Corsa prepared WeatherTech Ferrari up a couple steps on the podium Sunday.

“I really like Mid-Ohio,” MacNeil said. “It is a true road course with almost every kind of turn. We should be able to shine through the back section and around the Keyhole and Carousel. There will be some added competitors at the event with the kick-off of the all-new IMSA WeatherTech Sprint Cup, so a deep field of GTD competitors is getting even deeper.”

“I like Mid-Ohio because it is a true driver’s track,” Vilander said. “We will have to work hard with the Scuderia Corsa crew to get a good set-up on the WeatherTech Racing Ferrari. Cooper has a lot of laps at the track and I think we are going to have a good weekend.”

Mid-Ohio signifies the beginning of the new IMSA WeatherTech Sprint Cup. The WeatherTech Sprint Cup is a seven-race competition for GT Daytona (GTD) class competitors within most IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship sprint events that are two hours and 40 minutes in length or shorter. The schedule includes the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, Lime Rock Park, Road America, and VIRginia International Raceway. (Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix will count toward the IMSA WeatherTech Sprint Cup for the GTD class, and not toward the overall, 10-race WeatherTech Championship season).
