The Konica Minolta Cadillac DPi-V.R will start the season finale IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Twelve Hours of Sebring on the front row in second.

Renger Van Der Zande had the wheel of the No. 10 Konica Minolta Cadillac DPi-V.R for the 15-minute qualifying session around the rugged 3.7-mile, 17-turn Sebring International Raceway. The Dutchman was able to split the Acura cars to take second position on the grid with a time of 1:47.125. He will start next to the No. 7 Acura that leads the Wayne Taylor led team in the DPi Championship by just two points.

“Sebring is so fun,” Van Der Zande said. “We had low fuel, new tires, and a clean track, so we just went for it. We qualified second and I think that’s a great start, being on the front row. At the end it’s going to be a long race. Qualifying isn’t that important for a long race, but it shows where you are in terms of the speed of the car compared to the others. It’s going to be a long race tomorrow and a lot at stake.”

Cadillac holds the IMSA Dpi Manufacturer’s Championship lead by one point to Acura and the No. 7 Acura leads the DPi Drivers’ Championship over the No.10 Konica Minolta Cadillac by two points heading into tomorrow’s once around the clock season finale. Pipo Derani, No. 31 Whelen Engineering Cadillac DPi-V.R, is third, just nine points out of the championship.
