This weekend finally sees the first moment of truth of the 2023 DTM. The Red Bull Ring in Austria will be the arena for the official test and media days on 15 and 16 April. All teams and drivers will have the opportunity to find the optimum tuning for their racing cars in competition conditions ahead of the season start at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben (26 – 28 May). Almost 13 hours of free practice in six sessions are scheduled over the two days. And fans are also getting a free ride: Admission is free, enabling spectators to follow the race action from the Steiermark Tribüne (Styria stand). Entrance to the paddock is also free, allowing a look behind the scenes, including autographs and selfies with the drivers.

Both test days will give spectators a foretaste of what to expect at the season opener in Oschersleben in around six weeks’ time. Including plenty of innovations. With the Porsche 911 GT3 R (Generation 992), the Ferrari 296 GT3 and the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo2, three spectacular cars are set to make their DTM debut. New to the list of competitors are Emil Frey Racing, Liqui Moly Team Engstler Motorsport, Mercedes-AMG Team Landgraf, and Toksport WRT. In addition, the team Manthey EMA is returning to the DTM. Sheldon van der Linde (23/ZA) will start his mission to defend his title at the Red Bull Ring. The BMW works driver will go head-to-head with experienced DTM drivers such as Maro Engel (37/D), Lucas Auer (28/A) and Marco Wittmann (33/Fürth), as well as rookies like former Formula 1 driver Jack Aitken (27/GB) and the current Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland champion Laurin Heinrich (21/Würzburg).

There is a wide variety of brands, fans at the Red Bull Ring can look forward to seeing cars of the six prestigious manufacturers Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mercedes-AMG and Porsche. The racing cars will be powered by Shell’s sustainable fuel, 50% of which consists of renewable components. The Red Bull Ring will also see the DTM field use tyres from exclusive tyre partner Pirelli for the first time.
