The Spaniard of Kurdish ancestry will be contesting the 2022 GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup by Amazon at the wheel of a GSM Novamarine-run Lamborghini Huracan GT3. Tutumlu will fight for Silver class honours alongside Austrian driver Gerhard Tweraser during the 5-round season.

Isaac Tutumlu is back to compete at the highest GT3 level in 2022 as the Spaniard of Kurdish ancestry has reached an agreement with GSM Novamarine. Tutumlu will be contesting the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup by Amazon driving a Lamborghini Huracan GT3 with Austrian racer Gerhard Tweraser as his teammate. The five events will take place at top tier circuits such as Brands Hatch (30 April-1 May), Magny-Cours (13-15 May), Zandvoort (17-19 June), Misano (1-3 July) and Cheste (16-18 September).

Tutumlu, who was crowned Spanish GT Champion in 2013, has contested top events and championships such as the Daytona 24 hours, the Dubai 24 hours, the International GT Open, the Blancpain GT Series, the WTCC, the Lamborghini Super Trofeo or the Porsche Supercup. He underlines that “I feel extremely happy to be back on the grid of the GT World Challenge, which is the strongest field thanks to the best possible drivers and manufacturers involved. After a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19 pandemic, in which I focused on other professional commitments such as representation of football players, I will finally make my comeback on the GT3 scene. Probably, we will be the single Huracan entry so both my team, GSM Novamarine, and Lamborghini will be pushing really hard to achieve the best possible results.” The Barcelona-born driver adds that “I hope that my experience will help my new team to quickly improve and meet our goals. It’s a long-term team in Superbikes as a Suzuki-factory team, which moved into GT racing a few years ago making its debut in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo. I and Gerhard, who was my teammate back in 2015, are two experienced GT drivers and I think we will be competitive in the Silver class despite it will our team’s first season in GT3-spec racing. I would like to thank my sponsors and above all Rofgo because they will make possible that the Kurdistan Racing Team by Tigris will come back in full force on the international scene. It’s a huge pleasure and I feel very proud representing Kurdistan on the tracks all around the world.”

Tutumlu and his new team will carry out a first preseason testing at Paul Ricard next Tuesday.
