Home fixture, home race, a matter truly dear to the heart – these and countless other ideas and feelings spring to mind for members of Team Orange1 by GRT Grasser every season when the ADAC GT Masters comes to the Red Bull Ring for a race weekend. And we’ve reached that time of year again. It is less than ten kilometres from their home base in Knittelfeld to the Red Bull Ring at Spielberg. Obviously, it goes without saying that the event is something very special on the calendar for the outfit led by Team Principal Gottfried Grasser.

Once again, the team will have three experienced driver pairings in the ADAC GT Masters line-up. Lamborghini Junior Michele Beretta and Lamborghini works driver Marco Mapelli will be behind the wheel of the #19 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo. Car #63 will be driven by Christian Engelhart and Lamborghini works driver Mirko Bortolotti while Rolf Ineichen and Lamborghini works driver Franck Perera will go on the attack once more in the battle for top places in the #82 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo.

This season has been excellent so far from a team perspective for Orange1 by GRT Grasser. The Austrian outfit is in second place in the team standings, just eleven points behind the current leaders, having taken two podiums last time out at Autodrom Most. Consistency has been the key to their success along with the fact that their six top drivers and the entire team always work hard to get the best out of the cars; Orange1 by GRT Grasser have taken points from each of the four rounds so far this season.

Generally speaking, the team from Knittelfeld do well at the Red Bull Ring. Orange1 by GRT Grasser took two wins in 2015 and 2017 at the 4.31-km circuit which was rebuilt in 2011 and now has a new layout with long straights that do not particularly suit the Lamborghini Huracán GT3.

Team Principal Gottfried Grasser: “Racing at the Red Bull Ring just has to be the highlight of our season, for sure! The track is literally on our doorstep and it’s going to be mega! Every season, we cater for 200 to 300 guests, and of course, we want to shine in front of our home crowd. I’m out on the road for practically two thirds of the year, but home is where my heart is. And to be able to contest a race weekend here is just incredible and something very dear to us, you could say. As far as I’m concerned, the weekend at the Red Bull Ring is always the best of the season. Of course, it’s even better when you win! We’ve done it twice before, but things will be much harder for us this year. Still, who knows? Maybe it will rain as it did last year. At any rate, all things are possible, because our car is excellent in the wet.”
