Performance Tech Motorsports’ Dan Goldburg earned his career first Motul Pole Award at Road America.
Driver Goldburg snagged the No. 38 Centinel Spine Rediscover My Life Ligier JSP320’s third Motul Pole Award of the season with seconds remaining on the clock. His lap time of 2:19.106 edged out the No. 74 in a last lap push by three tenths of a second. Goldburg joined the team’s IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship ranks earlier in the 2021 season at Sebring International Raceway and has excelled leaps and bound at each proceeding event.
“This is mega for Dan,” Team Principal Brent O’Neill said. “We now have earned pole at three out of the five races and are in a solid place for tomorrow. It’s likely to be mixed condition in tomorrow’s race so the fact that Dan was fast today shows he can set us up for success from the drop of the green.”
“This is great,” Goldburg said. “I’ve been at this a long time, but this is my first season in IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship so I’m really excited. Performance Tech did a great job setting up the car. I have to thank Centinel Spine, Rediscover My Life, Motel 6, my wife and my family, I wouldn’t be here without them. It’s hard to explain how this feels. I’ve been racing for 20 years and really worked my way up the ranks. I’ve been in the Performance Tech pits for over a decade so now being on the pole with them is amazing. This was great experience for tomorrow’s conditions. I was able to get quicker each lap. We have a few things to work on but we’ll be back and strong tomorrow.
